The @whiskyshow was a blast, sipping some fantastic pours with warm and wonderful people is something that will always bring a smile to my face. The show may not have as much American Whiskey as KBF but there were enough of us there to enjoy some UK launches and even dabble in some non American spirit! Whiskey is for sharing after all.

Bardstown Bourbon Company 2026 Discovery Blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskeys Finished in Garryana Oak Barrels 112.8 Proof SRP: $139.99 / 750 mL Please enjoy my Bardstown Bourbon Company 2026 Discovery Review! See the carousel slides for background, details and tasting notes At first, the sweet cherries are dominant in the nose of Bardstown Bourbon Company 2026 Discovery, with the spicy oak more subtle and in the background. However, with time, those notes switch, with the spicy oak becoming more dominant, yet the cherries still come and go. Likewise, toffee, lightly burnt caramel and brown sugar trade places throughout the pour. The taste starts off mildly sweet but rapidly becomes drier and more tart, with orange peel, spicy oak and occasional mild barrel char. Sweet dark berries remain in the background, as well. The finish rapidly turns quite dry and somewhat tannic with increasing spice, but there are also some remaining dark berries. A mild smoky barrel char becomes most evident later in the finish and lingers with the spice for a while. In spite of the relatively short finishing time, the effects of the Garryana oak are evident throughout. They probably account for the fairly abrupt change between the nose and palate, and the spice, dryness and tannins in the finish. Likewise, the complexity of flavors is likely also in part due to this being essentially a four grain bourbon, with almost equal percentages of Indiana wheated bourbon and Kentucky “rye” bourbons. Bardstown Bourbon Company 2026 Discovery is quite the enjoyable, complex and layered pour. If you enjoy a sweeter start and a drier, somewhat tannic and spicier finish, then this is one that you will want to try. Have you tried the 2026 Discovery? What did you think? Bonus points if you can spot the mistake on one of the labels! Cheers!🥃 Note: This sample was graciously provided by the Brand for my review. I appreciate it! I’m excited to announce that I’ll be leading the Between Two Barrels conversations with Pursuit Spirits at Kentucky Bourbon Festival this weekend! I got the opportunity to design these sessions as a series rather than four unrelated talks. We’ll start with what it takes to build a whiskey brand, move into designing whiskey before it exists and how blenders actually think, then finish with what it means to find your own voice in this industry. More than anything, I’m excited about the people joining me: Clinton Dugan, Macaulay Minton, Dan Callaway, John Wadell, Dave Bob, Nic Christiansen, Jane Bowie and Craig Beam. They all come at whiskey from very different places, which is exactly what I wanted. Hopefully we come away with some real insight, a few disagreements and plenty of laughs. Huge thank you to Sarah, Ryan and Kenny for trusting me to put these conversations together and lead them. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I actually want to ask these people, and I’m excited to see where the conversations go. If you’re at KBF, come hang out with us at the Pursuit Spirits tent Friday and Saturday, don’t be a stranger and come say hi! Hope to see y’all there!! 🥃 Psst… we’ll also be raffling off the chance to purchase some pretty limited Pursuit releases exclusively to people who attend the talks! 👀 #kentuckybourbonfestival #kbf @estespublicrelations @visitbardstown
