“RIVER’S EDGE : Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” LP. Film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September 1986 (TIFF). Released nationwide on 8 May 1987 by Hemdale Film Corporation. Soundtrack released on Metal Blade / Enigma.

Happy 40th to the initial release of one of the wildest drug-induced sex-crazed nihilistic teen crime dramas of the 1980s, with an even wilder cast — Keanu Reeves, Crispin Glover, Dennis Hopper, Ione Skye, Daniel Roebuck, Danyi Deats, and more.

The soundtrack features WIPERS, Fates Warning, Burning Spear, Hallows Eve, Agent Orange and a heroic dose of SLAYERRRRRRRR!

According to Wikipedia, Dennis Hopper had requested the WIPERS track to appear in the film and the soundtrack. Pretty cool.

Meeting pending ❤️WELCOME TRAVIS❤️ Travis is a 2 year old 9 lb terrier mix. Travis came to us from a pretty unstable start. He has signs of mistreatment and neglect, but this little man has a heart bigger than any dog we’ve seen. Yes he is shy to start and yes, he takes a second to acclimate to new environments but when he’s comfortable, he is such a goofy loving little man. He has spent the last month with our amazing Trainer @coreychavezk9 learning basic skills and commands in building his confidence. He will require patients in time in any home that he goes into and we are looking for a home that can help him blossom. We’re looking for a quiet home with not a lot of foot traffic with another dog or two to help this little man continue to build his confidence. Travis is a rescue through and through. He is gentle, kind, even good with kids. He startled that loud noises and freezes when afraid, but is improving every day with exposure to the big world and learning that it’s not a scary place. Here are some notes from his Trainer!…. Little Travis has been in our training program for over 4 weeks now. Though he is shy at first when he warms up to you he’s spunky, sweet, and playful! Travis has been well socialized around dogs of all shapes and sizes and has been doing really well with socializing around our 10 month old son.

Like many rescue pups, Travis is looking for an owner who is willing to be patient, continue with his training (as a lifestyle), and utilize our guidance to ensure the best possible outcome for both him and his new family.

His training consists of having an understanding of basic obedience at a high level, crate/potty trained, and socializing with other dogs- a baby- and in neighborhood and city environments.

With our guidance we think he will make the perfect companion for someone who is patient, willing to follow our training protocols, and as kind as sweet to him as he has been with us! ❤️we can’t thank @coreychavezk9 @danyideats enough for fostering this little guy for us. Applications are located on our website. Www.tobiessmalldogrescue.org. Please submit when you’re ready to adopt.! #terrier #terriermix #rescue

TOM and @danyideats

“After a Viral Scolding, a Graffiti Writer Named “Tom” Reappears Above on the Hollywood Freeway.”

Not long ago, a short video circulating online captured a young woman angrily scolding a graffiti vandal who had painted three simple letters on her property, TOM.

In the clip, she mocked the name, criticized the technique, and attempted to paint over the letters herself, dismissing the tag as meaningless. But the video had an unintended consequence. As the footage spread across social media, the moment transformed the obscure vandal into a recognizable figure almost overnight.

Now, in a twist worthy of Los Angeles street lore, those same three letters have appeared again, this time along the Hollywood Freeway. Painted in blue, the name “TOM” now overlooks thousands of commuters each day. Whether meant as a quiet joke or a deliberate response to the viral moment, the follow-up sighting adds an ironic chapter to the story.

Somewhere in the city, one can almost imagine the reaction of the woman from that first video, discovering that the name she once dismissed has now joined the long, unpredictable theater of Los Angeles street culture.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac and Dan back on the show to discuss the 1986 drama River’s Edge. In this seminal 80s flick, John Wick and George McFly take opposing stands on how to help their friend deal with a problem down by the “river’s edge”. Meanwhile, a doll goes missing, sending this small California town into manhunt mode. Truly a classic of the era, watch what made Gen X so cynical, and enjoy the podcast (by a bunch of Gen Xers).
