Do you remember Cobra Sports?

Back in the late 90s, working on the shop floor in Peckham was about so much more than selling trainers.

I was injured and couldn’t play basketball for 9 months, so Cobra was a place I found myself without basketball.

We made our own playlists, danced on the shop floor, joked around and watched sportswear become a huge part of street fashion.

And while all of this was happening, I was still wearing my Js. 👟

Then I was made redundant… and ended up getting a job at JD Sports.

Looking back, it’s crazy to think how that one chapter in my life connected to another — and how JD would go on to become one of the biggest sports-fashion retailers in the world.

Cobra wasn’t just a job.

It was part of my journey through basketball, music, fashion and retail.

And yes… I definitely did more dancing than working. 😂

Massive shoutout to @mrplay who had just as much fun as me 👊🏽

Marv Stories, real moments, real memories.

🎙️ THE FUTURE-PROOF PROPERTY PODCAST

We are excited to share the full interview on The Future-Proof Property Podcast which launches on Sunday 30th August at 11am on Spotify!

Simone joined Kent of Daobry Properties for an open conversation about her journey into property and her experience working as a property deal sourcer.

One of the questions Kent put forward was:

“What is a deal that looks great on the surface but immediately makes you say no?”

It’s such an important question because a property can look like a fantastic opportunity at first glance but once you start digging deeper, the due diligence can tell a very different story.

During our conversation, we talk about what really happens behind the scenes of property deal sourcing assessing opportunities, carrying out due diligence, understanding investor requirements, recognising potential risks and knowing when to walk away from a deal.

Simone also shares some of her-own experiences of building Norville Property Group, what shes learned along the way and why she believes good property sourcing is about so much more than simply sending investors Rightmove links.

It was a great opportunity to have an open conversation about the realities of the journey including the learning, challenges and growth that happen behind the scenes.

Just over a week ago, we brought together an incredible room of people for our UK Career Quest Property Investment & Networking Event. 🏡

From first-time buyers and property investors to those exploring Airbnb, rent-to-rent, property sourcing, mortgages and development, the aim was simple: bring the right people into one room and create conversations that can lead somewhere.

A huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, attended, spoke, shared their knowledge and helped make the evening what it was.

We’ve got plenty of content from the event still to share conversations, insights and moments that we think will be valuable to anyone interested in the property space.

Career Quest will be back with another industry-focused event very soon. 👀

✨ WHAT AN INCREDIBLE EVENING! ✨

What a fantastic experience at the UK Career Quest Property Event on Friday 14th August, hosted by the wonderful Scarlette Douglas.
@missscardoug
From the moment I arrived at The Rooftop, I was so warmly welcomed by Ebony, Warren and the UK Career Quest team. 💜

It was an absolute honour to be part of the panel alongside such inspiring and knowledgeable individuals from across the property industry.

And Scarlette… what a wonderful host. So warm, kind and down-to-earth. It was genuinely lovely having the opportunity to sit down and have such an open conversation with her.
🎤 I spoke honestly about my journey into property.

My inspiration.
My motivation.
My challenges.
And most importantly my WHY.

We talked about the importance of compliance and due diligence, continuing to educate yourself, building genuine relationships within the industry and the reality of building a property business while also being a mum and working full-time as a Head of Art.

I also shared some of my longer-term dreams, including my ambition to create a fashion school and mentor young people in the future.
But one of the biggest highlights for me came after my conversation with Scarlette.

People approached me to tell me that my story had resonated with them. There were questions, meaningful conversations, new connections and people who simply wanted to know more.

And that meant so much to me. 💜

Because my goal wasn’t to sit there and pretend that I have everything figured out.

It was to share my journey honestly and hopefully show someone in that audience who may have a dream, but doesn’t quite know where to start, that you can start where you are.

You can learn.
You can build.
You can grow.

And you don’t have to have the entire journey mapped out before taking that first step. A massive THANK YOU to Ebony and Warren for creating such a fantastic event, and especially to Ebony for reaching out and inviting me to be part of it.

Thank you to the entire @ukcareerquest UK Career Quest team, my fellow panellists @__nkboss @daobryproperties @nicole.klutse and Anish everyone I connected with and everyone who came over to speak to me afterwards. 💜

The Hidden Science of Black Men’s Health was in November.

True story,

I was meant to do a 30 day male focused campaign in November but didn’t as the funding got pulled. #MenToo topics were “too controversial” was the reason.

Today I’m wondering when the root cause of male issue will ever benefit from funding! Male childhood abuse, care issues and more…. As it’s seems like only the reactions to it get dealt with!

Doing projects however will continue… as timelines move, budgets change but the impact will happen!

Will see how funding goes for next year’s male focused projects.

………

Either way, enjoy some pictures from the event with the @thehiddenscienceacademy that did happen 🖤

THE HIDDEN SCIENCE OF BLACK MEN’S HEALTH

📅 DATE: Saturday 22nd November 2025

📍 VENUE: Radisson Red Hotel, Heathrow

⏰ TIME: 12-6pm

Black men in the UK face unique health challenges that too often go unspoken, misdiagnosed, mistreated and over-medicated. From high blood pressure and diabetes to mental health struggles and prostate cancer, the statistics reveal a painful truth: Black Men are disproportionately at risk — and it’s costing lives.

At this groundbreaking event, we will confront these realities head-on. Together, we’ll uncover the science behind Black Men’s HEALTH, VITALITY & WELLNESS; and answer the following questions:

🤔 Why are Black Men less likely to access mental health support, despite higher stress, racism-related trauma, and social pressure to “man up!” and just deal with it?

🤔 Why are Black Men 17x more likely to be diagnosed with a mental health condition and 4x more likely to be sectioned under the Mental Health Act?

🤔 Why are Black Men 4x more likely to die from prostate cancer — and what can Black Men do to protect themselves?

🤔 Why are Black Men more likely to suffer from hypertension and diabetes at a younger age?

We will also discuss the latest government statistics on Black Men in the UK, which shows that Black Men are:

➡️ Dying younger from preventable conditions due to a lack of health education specific to melanated men and lack of culturally relevant healthcare.

But this event isn’t just about problems — it’s about SOLUTIONS. Expect powerful insights from medical experts, community leaders, and health advocates who understand the lived experiences of Black men in Britain.

This is more than an event — it’s a movement to break generational cycles, save lives, and empower Black Men with the knowledge they were never given.
