Style Notes | No. 3
Drift. Dopamine. Drive.

Three words we’ve been thinking about recently.
Running businesses and managing busy lives means we’re pretty good at drive.

There’s always somewhere to be, something to organise and another thing waiting to be ticked off the list.

But what about leaving room to drift?

Taking the street that looks interesting.

Going into the shop you hadn’t planned to visit.

Having another coffee because you like the atmosphere.

Changing the plan because you’ve discovered somewhere better.

Then there’s dopamine — that little lift that comes from experiencing something new.

A brilliant independent shop.
An extraordinary interior.
A new neighbourhood.
An exhibition.
A great meal.

Or simply noticing how people somewhere else are living and dressing.

Some of our favourite moments — and some of our best inspiration — have come from the things we didn’t plan.

And perhaps that’s the point.

Drift feeds curiosity.
Curiosity creates inspiration
+ inspiration feeds drive.

Our latest @dappersuave Style Note explores why we think all three deserve a little more space in our lives.

🔗 Drift Time, Dopamine, Drive — read the full Style Note via the link in our bio.

And it leads rather nicely into where Style Notes is taking us next…

Celebrating independent business in Surrey….

We’re delighted to share that @curatedbydapperandsuave, the Surrey-based pop-up shopping business founded by Jason Brett, has been named one of the Nation’s Favourite Businesses for 2026 by the Small Business Saturday campaign.

One of just 100 small businesses from across the UK to receive this year’s recognition, Curated by Dapper & Suave has been bringing carefully selected independent brands together at shopping events across Surrey and London since 2017.

From fashion, jewellery and beauty to homeware, food and gifting, each event is designed to give small businesses a professional platform to share their products and stories, while creating genuine connections with customers and fellow independent businesses.

With its Curated • Kind • Connected ethos at the heart of what it does, it’s a lovely recognition of a business that puts independent brands and the people behind them firmly centre stage.

The 100 businesses will be celebrated as part of the countdown to Small Business Saturday on 5 December, encouraging us all to discover, support and spend with the independent businesses around us.

Congratulations to Jason and the Curated by Dapper & Suave team. 👏

We are one of the Nation’s Favourite Businesses
for 2026

I’m incredibly proud to finally share that @curatedbydapperandsuave has been selected by @britainsmallbiz as one of the Nation’s Favourite Businesses for 2026 by @smallbizsatuk

Following a nationwide search, we are one of just 100 small businesses from across the UK being recognised and celebrated as part of this year’s campaign.

To receive national recognition for something I have built from the ground up means so much to me.
When I started Curated in Dorking in 2017, I wanted to create something that was about far more than simply putting tables in a room and calling it a market.
I wanted to create welcoming spaces where brilliant independent businesses could shine, tell their stories and connect with their customers.

Great customer service, quality independent brands and storytelling have remained at the heart of everything we do.

Curated • Kind • Connected.
Those 3 words represent what we have become and the community that has grown around our events.

This recognition belongs to the community.
To our incredible independent businesses who trust us with their brands.
To our team, who bring our events to life.
To the wonderful venues that welcome us.
+ to every single person who has walked through the doors of one of our events, bought from an independent business, shared a post, told a friend or simply supported what we are trying to create...
THANK YOU.

You have helped turn an idea that started 9 years ago into something that is now being recognised nationally.

We’re not finished yet.
On Saturday 5th December, we’ll be joining independent businesses across the country in celebrating Small Business Saturday 2026.

Until then, we’re going to enjoy this rather special moment.

We are officially one of the Nation’s Favourite Businesses 2026
.

✨ Say NO to bad customer service. ✨

One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that people buy from people.

You can have the most amazing products, but if you’re looking at your phone, chatting with other stallholders, sitting in the corner, or have your back turned when customers walk past, you’re missing the biggest opportunity of all… making a connection.

@curatedbydapperandsuave creating a welcoming atmosphere is just as important as curating incredible independent businesses.

That’s why I’m so proud of the amazing team who help bring our events to life.

The moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a smile at our welcome desk, receive one of our Come & Visit cards, and welcomed by people who genuinely care about making your day special.

A huge thank you to our fantastic event team who have helped in the past
@jennai_cox , Jamie , Diego
@rushyangvyas @therushilvyas24
@shoates @elijahj.parkes
@sharnellemclean
@jakubdurian who now manages our events
@rockthegazbah who many of you will remember from our @dorkinghalls days

Each of them brings their own personality, warmth and energy, helping every visitor and every small business feel welcome.

Thank you also to Rob, who continues to support behind the scenes whenever needed, and to our incredible creative team.

🎥 Nick @ccmediauk together we come up with ideas and content that captures the heart of every event and the adventures of CuraTED

🎬 Dan from @aloftivisuals whose videography tells the story behind our markets so brilliantly. He understands exactly what we’re trying to create and brings it to life beautifully.

It truly takes a team, and I couldn’t do it without every single one of you.

Thank you for believing in the vision, helping our events grow, and making every market a place where kindness, connection and community come first.

If you haven’t visited one of our pop-up shopping markets yet, we’d love to welcome you.

Here are our @curatedbydapperandsuave Father’s Day favourites

For us, Father’s Day can be about absolutely anyone you see as a father figure, mentor, supporter or someone special in your life.

Something really important to us, especially with Dapper & Suave, is celebrating and supporting male makers.

When we first started events years ago, we would often be the only men in the room, so it’s amazing now to see such a brilliant variety of talented male creatives, makers and business owners at our events — alongside the amazing wives, girlfriends and partners who are also part of the journey too.

So we wanted to give a big shoutout to these fantastic businesses

Pride Month is here, and for me, this is so much more than a month.

It is about visibility, kindness, inclusivity, diversity and creating spaces where people feel safe, welcomed and celebrated.

Last year, we hosted our first Pride Market @denbies_wine_estate — something I had spoken about from the very beginning and something that took three years to bring to life.

It became one of the real highlights of the year.

It was a day filled with allies, friends, families, small businesses, customers and community.

A day where people could simply be themselves.

Seeing queer people attend with their parents, seeing people after this event return to our markets because they felt safe, and feeling that real sense of kindness in the room meant everything.

At Curated by Dapper & Suave, our events have always been about more than shopping.
They are about connection, representation and celebrating people for who they are.

This video is a little look back at some of the amazing businesses who joined us and helped make the day so special:

…plus a special visit from @ewthatslulu 🌈✨

Thank you to every single business, customer, ally and visitor who helped create such a welcoming,
inclusive and safe space.

Pride Month is about visibility, celebration, kindness and community — and this event truly reflected that.

Pride matters. History matters. Visibility matters. Kindness matters.

Celebrate this month, celebrate every month, and always be proud to be exactly who you are.
