Last night, we celebrated the opening of ᴘᴜʙʟɪᴄ ʀᴇᴄᴏʀᴅ’s new gallery space on Great North Road in Tāmaki Makaurau. The inaugural exhibition included a room of certamics by Ōtautahi-based artist Carmel Pollock, as well as new work by Kara Burrowes and Peter Derksen.

The upcoming AOTEAROA ART FAIR signals a dynamic year of transformation and ambitious presentation, underpinned by a strong trans-Tasman presence and a compelling convergence of established and emerging voices. From 30 April to 3 May, the Viaduct precinct will come alive with a curated constellation of galleries, artists and arts practitioners, accompanied by a robust programme of public events and activations.

Ahead of the event, TYSON CAMPBELL notes a number of key Aotearoa New Zealand galleries that will bring distinct curatorial positions into focus including Artor Contemporary, Coastal Signs, Fresh Gallery Ōtara, Gow Langsford, Jhana Millers, Lett Thomas, Melanie Roger Gallery, PEG Gallery and Plomacy. International participation continues to expand, with a record 15 Australian galleries represented including Alcaston Gallery, Brenda Colahan Fine Art, CBD Gallery, CHALK HORSE, Curatorial+Co., Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert, Michael Reid Galleries and MARS Gallery.

So many things to discover in these new paintings by Claudia Kogachi. They’re full of subtle observations, layered narratives, and quiet emotional weight.

I’ve watched Claudia’s practice evolve over many years, and it’s incredibly exciting to see where it’s arrived. Her debut exhibition with us opens tomorrow in Onehunga. 🔥🥔 “Another Day” 26 June - 25 July.

Remy shorts in pure wool suiting, with a subtle iridescent sheen and pinstripe. A favourite style of ours year round, for this wool version we’ve added a little more length. Worn here with our Celia cardigan in merino rib 🌊

Corner shots of some of the frames I made for Claudia’s upcoming solo at @gowlangsford in Onehunga.

Claudia and I chose three woods to compliment the works — Cherry, Walnut and Oregon, a total of 15 works. Each frame is lightly hand carved on the outside using my draw knife and carving knife, this makes the frames look a little softer from far away. Up close you can see the texture more.

Show opens this Saturday 27th June 2-4pm.
