Behind the Scenes | The Journey to Positive Lane – The Book

Every photograph captures a moment, but behind every moment is a story. As I prepare to launch Positive Lane, I reflect on the journey that brought me here.

What began as a deeply personal experience has grown into something I am now preparing to share with the world.

These behind-the-scenes moments are more than just a photoshoot. They remind me how far I have come, the lessons I have embraced, and the beauty of trusting life’s journey.

Positive Lane officially launches on 24 October 2026.

Book sales open on 25 October 2026.

Orders will be available through:

📧 leshma@positivelane.co.za

A heartfelt thank you to Inspired Publishing and everyone who helped bring these moments together.

Your book isn’t going to write itself.
And the longer you keep saying:
“I’ll start when I have more time.”
“I need to learn more first.”
“I’m not ready yet.”

…the more expensive your dream becomes.

Because one day, you’ll look back and realize you had the idea.
You had the story.
You had the voice.

You just kept waiting for permission to begin.

So ask yourself:

What is it costing you to keep your book inside your head instead of putting it into the world?

Stop waiting for the perfect time.

Open the document.
Write the first page.
Take the first step.

Your future readers can’t read a book you never finish.

A teacher changed my life 💙

Today our staff had the privilege of listening to Darren’s incredibly inspiring talk, A Teacher Changed My Life. It encouraged us, and reminded us of the incredible privilege and responsibility that comes with being a teacher.

Teaching is so much more than lessons and assessments. It’s the smiles, the encouragement, the patience, the belief, and the small everyday moments that often leave the biggest impact. We may never fully realise the difference we make, but to the learners who cross our paths, those moments can change everything.

A big thanks to @darrenaugust for coming to our school!

Here’s to choosing kindness, leading with purpose, and remembering the power we hold to shape lives one child at a time 📚✨

I’ve sold over 10 000 copies of my book as a self-published South African author.

How?

I’m ready to spill the beans.

We spent some time out with the boys at Emmerentia Dam.

I remember seeing what a mess the place was a few month ago thinking “they’re never going to finish what they’ve started, now we won’t be able to go there with the kids.”

Today as we walked through, I was hopeful. The place is clean, beautiful and filled with families making memories and having fun.

There is so much power in finishing what you’ve started.
There is always hope ❤️ and today I feel a little more hopeful for the future of our beautiful South Africa.

I am so grateful for my husband 😩🥺

We are who we are because Jesus of course, and because of Darren.

He works so hard for us and I honestly just stand in awe of him everyday ❤️

Today was tough on me having both the boys home. I have to be with them, and get a lot of work done.

By the evening I was depleted. Darren got out of our at home office and took the boys to bed 😭 (as I bask in the silence)

He is in Arden’s room praying with him now. (Ezra is already asleep)

Who you marry will affect you for the rest of your life. Choose wisely!

Sunday afternoons, little moments, and memories I’ll never forget. ❤️

Today, for the very first time, Arden casually looked at me and said, “Uncle Glisson, today was a really nice day.”

He probably doesn’t know it, but that simple sentence made me smile more than he’ll ever realize. These are the moments that matter. 🤍
