Your wardrobe is either telling your story…or someone else’s.

This week I sat down with celebrity stylist & costume designer Darshan Gress, @darshangress — a 25+ year industry veteran — to talk about what your clothes are really saying about you, how to audit your closet without the overwhelm, and how to rediscover your personal style when life has pulled you in every direction.

This week I’m celebrating two years at FIT! From an epic alumni trip to Paris, to opening our first new building on campus in nearly 50 years, it’s been an incredible year. In October we hosted the second annual Alumni Weekend gathering, headlined by a Project Runway panel and a special moment on Saturday evening honoring our Golden Tigers who graduated 50+ years ago. FIT alumni are the absolute best 🐯🧡💙 and the FIT Foundation is a small but mighty #dreamteam (who occasionally shows up in matching outfits). Thank you for making the last year amazing. Here are some of my favorite pics from 2025. Can’t wait for 2026!

Sips and sights from FIT's Alumni Weekend✨

Slide through to see unforgettable moments from the weekend, featuring select events in partnership with New York Champagne Week and the Fizz is Female!

From the first toast to the final Bellini, @newyorkchampagneweek founder and beverage curator, @champagneblaine_, created a sparkling itinerary:

Opening night welcome pours by @boschendalwines & @capeclassicswines and coastal-bright sips from @souleilwines at Binsky's Afterparty.

Bubbly moments with @societydelarassi dealcoholised wines throughout the weekend.

A Cabernet Franc love letter to New York terroir at Decades Dinner with @macariwines, @fjordvineyards, and @wolfferwine and garden-kissed @casajtequila cocktails crafted by founder Sofía Paloma Juárez @thetequilawoman

Friday night espresso martinis and Sunday bellinis to close the weekend in full glow with @xximartinis

A heartfelt thank you to these visionary, women-driven, sustainability-minded brands for joining us to celebrate the FIT’s alumni community all weekend long!

Day 1 of FIT Alumni (@fitalumni ) Weekend 2025 was a ton of fun, including a panel with Hollywood producer Julie LaPlaca (@julielaplaca ; Class of 2012) and a Project Runway (@projectrunway ) reunion panel with former contestants Yuchen Han (@yuchenhan_1 ; Class of 2019, same year as me!) and Darshan Gress (@darshangress ; Class of 1996), moderated by Joe Zee (@mrjoezee ; Class of 1992). Developing your personal style. I had a lot of fun creating this editorial story on “Developing Your Personal Style” for @milfordcitylifestyle . I reached out to my stylist friend that works with celebrities and private clients for the best advice. Personal stylist Darshan Gress, a NYC and LA base personal stylist who writes the weekly newsletter style D. She shares: “I always remind my clients that personal style doesn’t start in the stores, it starts in your closet. Take time to play dress up with what you already have, experiment with unexpected combinations, and have fun rediscovering pieces you’ve overlooked. That’s where authentic style truly develops.” Sign up for more styling advice @darshangress www.Darshangress.com. Newsletter StyleD www.Darshangress.com/newsletter-sign-up. season 21 of @projectrunway is now out in the world ✨ having the privilege to work with @ninagarcia on this fun, dramatic, and wacky season was a massive joy. i was the little kid, growing up in iowa, watching this very show every week with my mom, hoping to one day be a part of the fashion world magic. to be a small sliver of this show for a third season, with the iconic return of @heidiklum, was nothing short of incredible. if you work hard enough and dedicate yourself, you can make your dreams a reality. beyond grateful and truly beaming today. gird your loins, and watch #projectrunway on @freeform, streaming on @hulu and @disneyplus. team ng for life.
