Today I finally listened to the people in my life who really know what I need. I took a day for myself and got out! I went to the @gardinermuseum and saw Housewarming by @karinegiboulo. There was a line in her statement that really resonated with me … “The house is, above all, a framework for considering our place in the world and the connections that bind us … The home thus emerges as a portrait at once a reflection and extension of the self.”
I absolutely love that my paintings become a part of the homes they reside in. They become a part of the family, a witness to so many life events. What a privilege 💕

@dartstudioinc described this banquette seating area as becoming the heart of the home.

Barely a stitch of drywall means miles of beadboard and v-joint for ceilings and walls. Shingles all stained and back in crates ready for install, bathroom tile work going in, beginnings of water treatment plant and laundry room millwork looks amazing! Starting to get antsy to come home and see it all in person…

The style of the space (designed by @dartstudioinc) is refined, contemporary, and layered—though some of the millwork details lean a bit traditional, the furnishings and high-contrast palette feel modern. In the living room, they updated the fireplace with a gas insert. A cozy sectional fits the space perfectly. “To fit this in we rejigged the layout and changed the openings to give us a large wall for the sectional,” the designers told us. Located in Etobicoke, on the west end of Toronto, is this charming project from @dartstudioinc. The neighborhood is near the beach and in a community with young families—it was the perfect spot for the young family to settle down. Their goal in hiring Dart Studio was to create a family-friendly home with a focus on function. Though their 1940s house had a lot of vintage charm, the layout was closed off (so no easy sight lines to kiddos!) and the (original) kitchen hadn’t been well maintained. Dart Studio got to work — see more at the link in our bio.
