your favorite video game soundtracks are secretly IDM (exploring the connection) I was on Discord listening to the boys play Marathon one day (with its very glitchy, highly sound-designed music) and started thinking about the IDM and video game music connection. From Half-Life 2 and Amon Tobin’s Splinter Cell score, to the Autechre x Metroid Prime deal that almost happened, to The Designers Republic’s Wipeout/Warp Records connection - IDM has been hiding in games for 25+ years. New 1-hour “IDM in Video Games” DJ mix is up on YouTube now. The full tracklist on the last slide, tell me what I missed. #IDM #videogamemusic #VGM #aphextwin #techno

TOTD 57 - Ripped Portishead - The Rip (Datassette remix) [unreleased] https://youtu.be/wli2cpycWnw?si=fqDFBtl_bpPO5Tqv [ TOTD Playlist link in bio ] The first of what is likely to be many, many tunes I'll post by @datassette over the coming months (years?). This one is a lil re-rub of the excellent 'The Rip' by Portishead, and launches into the stratosphere with a tasty full-throated bass riff to set against Beth Gibbons' ghostly vox and the great arp. Photo is a satellite image of The Rip in Victoria, Australia. Out to John and Laura on this, and also to Body Butter.

I have a rave-y track on this new comp lovingly assembled by the Dinamplatz crew. Had a lot of fun making this (quite a while ago now) it was a little challenge to myself to make something for the rave, (I always thought that wasn’t in my wheelhouse but maybe it is ?) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The release is a thing of rare beauty (amazing artwork and brightly coloured wax) and what’s more it’s choc full of belters, with killer trax by: 8Ball Mans Boojiboy @datassette @tflex808 Romford Enforcement Officer Spatial @itsthetimreaper @forestdrivewest & Voytek @radioactiveman_uk Miles COMPILED BY MB / CB / JP MASTERED BY MILES WHITTAKER CUT/PRESSED BY CURVE PUSHER ARTWORK BY JOHN BROADLEY STAMPS BY @ultramega1 ‘Dear customers, We’ve been concentrating on losing money on raves for the last little while (and turned 5 in the process), so we thought we’d switch things up and concentrate on losing money on records again (and hopefully make it to 10). Here’s another V/A megapack, then, of all your fave dancefloor flavours - madhouse, sludgetek, electrogarage, crabstep and beyond... It took us ages to sort it because good (but not right) things come to those who wait. It’ll arrive on three bright, glowing plates in a giant plastic baggie with custom inserts, stamps and a sticker, ready for use/abuse in club, church and conference settings. Remember: we never intended any of this. Yours, The Board’

After a short break for summer to cool down and calm we are back and really happy and honoured to have our guest @sos_gunver_ryberg SØS Gunver Ryberg is an electronic composer and sound artist known for her innovative music, which challenges traditional genre definitions. She performs in settings ranging from art spaces and museums to concert venues, concert halls, underground clubs and festivals internationally, including the Venice Biennale, Berlin Philharmonie, Flow Festival, CTM Festival, Berlin Atonal, Istanbul Biennale, Berghain and the Corsica Studios. Alongside concerts and releases, she frequently composes for immersive and spatial formats, including multichannel works, installations, opera, orchestras, dance, performance and VR/AR and has received several awards for her music. This mix seamlessly bridges club culture, sound art, and contemporary composition, shifting our perception of time and space while balancing meticulously constructed electronics on the verge of sonic collapse. Together with the mix, there is also an interview where she shares insights into her process and artistic approach. New Mindcast || Mindcast.70 || Edward J – Mindcast Mixtape 07/2026 For our July edition, we welcome The Hague-based sound designer and producer Edward J (formerly Generate) to our series. He is known for exploring the space between abstract textures and emotional melodies and is also regarded as one of the key figures in the @indexmusic_ collective and the ‘Sonic Waves’ event series in The Hague. His diverse background—ranging from IDM and intricate jungle rhythms on @terra_atomika to collaborative works on @antilounge —shapes this curated mix, which seamlessly blends ambient, electro, IDM, and bass music. Speaking about the intention behind this selection, Edward says: “So much incredible music stays hidden, even though it’s easily on the same level as what’s much more known. I added a lot of tracks from friends and people close to me who make amazing work. Making this mix helped me slow things down and find some clarity in the chaos and steady my mind a bit.” Selected and mixed by @edward.j__ Artwork by @hagar_faibish_art
