POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today would’ve been my mom Floria’s 71st birthday ❤️ It’s been 8 years since her and my brother died and every year I wonder what to do to celebrate them… this year I decided that what would’ve brought her so much joy was actually celebrating the work of her youngest son. I think Navid was able to flourish as an artist in part because of our incredibly supportive mom, who was also quite creative! (see later slides)

So… even though Navid’s album doesn’t officially launch until November 13th, we are going to begin Bandcamp pre-orders today. You have a chance to snag the limited edition 2xLP vinyl (+ digital) or get the digital album now! Link in my bio 💜

Consider it a gift to her in honor of Navid (and Nav’s son, who all the profits will go to), but it will also be a gift to yourself because it truly is a special album. I know my beautiful mom would’ve be grooving along to his songs in the living room, telling everyone how proud she was of him. I wish they could both be here for that…

Happy Birthday, mom. I miss you so much 🌺

(Pre-ordering gets you the full lead single “Islands” featuring the great vocals of @angelica__bess and some of Navid’s best soulful spaced-out West Coast boogie funk production work)

Hey fam… I’m a few weeks we’re doing a big-time love event in SF for our dearly departed friend Navid Izadi. It’s in celebration of a truly amazing feat- the release of his posthumous debut solo record. If you don’t know the story, he and his mother perished in a plane crash, and the data from his destroyed laptop was miraculously salvaged and his music was recovered. Led by his brother Aden and the one and only Dave Aju, the record features some of his dearest friends and fam finishing his tracks. We hope you can join us at Monarch as we cerebrate this incredible artist and the musical legacy he’s left us. Keep it Purple! 🤘🏿💜🤘🏿

On a recent episode of our podcast, Myles Serge and I caught up with Dave Aju about a really interesting creative space they have in California.

It’s more than just a recording studio. Artists can actually come and stay in the guest room, work on music, collaborate, and connect with other artists in the collective.

I’ve always liked the idea of bringing creative people together in one space, sharing ideas, and seeing what comes out of it.

That’s what makes underground music communities so special. It’s not always just about making tracks. It’s about the people, the connections, and the experiences along the way.

Big thanks to Dave Aju for sharing this with us!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY
OCTOBER 4
We will once again fly the DX3 freak flag with the world class wizard crew in collaboration with @bettertomorrowstudio
…as we welcome…
@tomofenglandland — a musical godfather who, as an integral part of Wicked Sound System — has been searing our psychedelic cells for 35 years, then went on to turn the marble upside down with his productions as one half of Rub N Tug and Laughing Light Of Plenty… there’s no one like Tom of England… so part they seas and join the movement!

Oh AND LOOK who got all of his stamps approved and is hopping on the Sunday ticket, but Berlin’s own purveyor of the most quality in the edge of sound, from the great earth base @soundmetaphors — @castro_sound_metaphors

++ bookended support from your in-house supreme team @digitaljunior @warehousepreservationsociety

& lastly but not leastly — on this very same Sunday, we will be implicitly and explicitly celebrating our dearest brother de la discos @daveaju after a family brunch at the community center. Bring your elbow grease ;)
