POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Today marks the release of the Shared Planet documentary series on CBC.

I worked on Shared Planet for just over two years as Assistant Producer, Field Director, Cinematographer, AC, and Chief Umbrella Holder.

I’m very proud to have worked with friends and colleagues at @riverroadfilms This is the third series I have been a part of with the multi-Emmy Award-winning team there, and this was one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences of my life.

Shared Planet reveals untold stories of people and wildlife flourishing together. Filmed across 16 countries, this unique landmark series features stories of bold human heroes working with nature to achieve extraordinary things.

It is a luxury in life to be able to earn a living as a filmmaker. Visiting corners of the planet, meeting people you wouldn’t ordinarily get a chance to meet, and working with skilled professionals who become friends - all make the sleepless nights worthwhile. It’s all about the people.

Special thanks to these fine folks: Jeff Turner, Chelsea Turner, @ar_matey, Matt Muncaster, Jacques Russo, @lou_ferguson01 Lynn Fuhr, @ellavancleave Geordie Trifa, @vivekraonn @jackgawthrop @chelsie_x_b @alex.w.burr @maxwelhohn @tynancallesen @_matthewhood Jesse Rankin @petesakes @davecpearson @lydialenscape Sparkie, Gary Wallace, @sam.the.cameraman @itsryanwilkes @tiarebuoys @jasonsching @james_frystak and likely more I have failed to acknowledge.

The stars, however, are the people whose stories we have helped share: people all over the world—from cities to open spaces, forests, and water communities. Sharing your time, resources, and stories with us is what will inspire others and instil hope. Thank you.

The first of four episodes screens this evening on CBC and is streaming for free on CBC Gem and The Nature of Things YouTube channel. Episodes 2, 3, and 4 will be released in the coming weeks.

Now, back to work on the next series…

A lot of great variety in 2024.

Worked on an IMAX documentary with unforgettable new and old friends honoring Maunakea and people connected to it. Learned so much. Laughed a lot. Dreamt a lot on the Mauna.

Made a significant shift into cultivating cinematography skills. Very humbling, fun, and brought a lot of needed energy back into this visual practice. Awesome finally see how video can begin to feel like photo work.

Grateful for @jtrisolini and @alanalakai working together for our Tetrachrome agency. Been so fun creating photo and video content for web and design work.

Many active and silent moments observing, searching for something greater, real-er. Listening. Pondering. Too much thinking. And snacking.

Overall, a great year to work hard and try again.

Thank you to all who made this year.

Honored to serve.
