Crowders Trail Day is back! Come help us give Charlotte’s closest climbing crag some love as we tackle general trail maintenance, trash pickup, and social-trail cut off.

Join the @carolinaclimberscoalition at 9am at the Linwood Road Access parking lot - bring water, snacks, and work gloves if you have them! Climbers are welcome to bring their gear to climb afterwards, but the CCC will NOT be leading any climbing - everyone is responsible for their own safety

Looking to escape that summer heat? I would highly recommend checking out Ship Rock. Only a couple hours north of Charlotte and nestled next a beautiful mountain town, it’s definitely worth the visit!

One of my newest favorite climbs, Harpoon, is a wonderfully fun left leaning crack. Graded as a 5.10a, it was first put up by Jim Okel, Tom Howard, and Lee Carter in 1981.

Sometimes your work takes you to some incredible places. The @oscarmayer #Weinie500 at @indianapolismotorspeedway was definitely one I’ll never forget! So much fun to watch all the @wienermobile race!

Highlights from last weekends outing at Stone Mountain. It was a beautiful day, with them sun hiding behind the clouds the whole day. Which anyone who has been up Stone knows is a blessing!

Kenny and I had a blast taking Luke up his second multipitch at Stone Mountain. It was another lap up the classic line, Great Arch, but one every NC climber has to do.
Thankfully, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. The temps remained cool and the sun remained hidden behind some clouds.
Overall it was a great day and I even found my first groupies when a school of kids started screaming up at us while climbing. I made the mistake of telling them my name and then for hours all we heard was “DAVE!” Shouting up the mountain.

A story 30+ years in the making.

This weekend, a legendary, historic, and once thought impossible crag was made public & Lower ghost town is now a reality. This marks a major milestone for public climbing access not only in the Carolinas, but also the entire south east. Here lies some of, if not the best crack climbing in the south, along with some very hard, steep climbing sprinkled in along the way.

The town of chimney rock has not had it easy the last couple of years. The toll hurricane Helene caused this area was devastating. Having seen the damage first hand post storm, and returning back frequently over the last year and a half, to where it is now, is nothing short of amazing. The people of this town are resilient, strong, kind, and building back better than ever. Seeing the town rebuilt, people in the streets, businesses open, restaurants packed, shops open, and people climbing at a new crag above town brought a tear to my eye. Here’s a set that captures a weekend of celebration, resilience, hope and community. 🫶🏽
