POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

As the sun sets on another year, it is that time for reflection.

2023 did not go as planned (do they ever…?). It was a year where family became front and centre, but was lucky to spend much more time with my sister and niece as they moved back to Canada. It is time I will always cherish as we head into 2024.

One of the highlights (to combat the pain and sorrow of seeing Lahaina burn down) was the Maui fundraiser. I couldn’t be more proud of all that helped or participated for the fundraiser. In a short span of two weeks, a whole community came together over art, food, photography and love for an island that has given so much to many. Or those who just wanted to support a place they may never have visited but saw how important it was to us.

Amazing to say we raised $2623 CAD and it has been donated to the People’s Fund of Maui (apologies should have posted this months ago..).

I appreciate all of you, and look forward to seeing/collaborating again next year.

May your 2024 be filled with love, friendship, good food, enriching experiences and happiness ❣️🙏🏼🏝️

Aloha!

Just an update for tomorrow. We have a great lineup with some amazing art @shintanigallery. And some great prizes and raffle items.

📷 1 - schedule of events. We’ll be raffling items throughout the day so drop in any time. All ages are welcome 🙏🏼 and don’t miss the hula performance by the @leialahula hālau. Art available by @rvictorias.studio, @kristoferhiroshi @soph.yeh @stevenhasegawa.art and myself.

📷 2 - come for a chance to win these beautiful pieces from @thehawaiianstandard donated all the way from Oahu. Joe hand cuts and stitches the lettering and the quality shows. Just got them today after some customs issues so thankful they’re available tomorrow

So stop by and have a Big Wave golden ale and a spam musubi and listen to some beats spun by @djkmatic while @antopunfu MC’s. And win gift cards from @pokito.toronto and @surfthegreats

Check link in bio for eventbrite registration (free or donate what you can on arrival) and gofundme if you want to donate but can’t attend.

Mahalo for your support.

Aloha!

As a further update, I am excited to share more details of the Maui Ohana Fundraiser: Toronto to Lahaina <3 happening August 26th from 4pm-8pm at 700 Lansdowne Ave @shintanigallery.

It will be a day of art, community, food, drinks and most importantly raising money for Maui, which continues to see the death toll rise and businesses permanently shutter their doors (some who had been operating for 100+ years 😢).

It is a long road ahead for them, so come out and bid on some art, test your luck with some raffle tickets and support Maui.

The schedule may continue to fluctuate as we finalize participants. Link in bio for an eventbrite signup (not required but helpful for me to gauge numbers as it is not a large venue).

Mahalo nui loa 🙏🏼

Wrapped up another @artistprojectto and was so great meeting new friends, new clients, familiar faces and everybody who passed through. I learn something every year and leave more inspired than coming in.

This was our crew (@stevenhasegawa.art, @fabriziosclocco.art, @pennylamoriginals, @tanmay.art) who all had booths next to each other last year (were missing the talented @audrey.smith.artist in this photo :( but swipe to next photo to see her amazing work). It was great seeing the growth in these artists/friends.

And a big thank you to everybody who supported me this year. Love you all ❣️

Photo dump of a few artists I liked and some I met over the last few days. Check out their work!!

Hi 👋🏼

Wanted to invite you all to an exhibition I’m putting on with two other artists @stevenhasegawa.art & @willshintani entitled the Red & White Show this Friday, March 24th.

All three of us are Japanese Canadian artists who decided to collaborate on a show after realizing our shared experiences growing up in Canada with a Japanese upbringing.

Location: 700 Lansdowne Ave
Date: Friday, March 24th
Time: 6-10pm

There will be 🍙, 🍻 some strange Kit Kat flavours and of course amazing art by my friends, and some of my photographs of Japan (not these iPhone snaps 👉🏼)

It will also be open Sat and Sunday from 1-6pm for those who find daytime easier.

Can DM me for more details, but stop by to say hello on Friday. All are welcome 🙏🏼

It’s been a few years since I’ve exhibited any photos. But excited to say I’m taking part in @artistprojectto this year from April 21-24 in Toronto (link in bio for more info).

I’ll be in Booth 221, so come on by say hello, chat, look, explore.

Got a couple things in the works for the show which I’ll preview in the coming days.

There is always something exciting about seeing your work in physical format in this digital age 🤙
