I like to post on social media for record-keeping purposes, but time got away from me when it came to posting over the last number of months. As I prepare to audition with them again, I wanted to remind myself of the outstanding time I had in The Odd Couple (The Female Version) at the Pollard Theatre Co. Just making this post helped me relive some fond memories.

I played Spanish lover boy Manolo Costazuela opposite Hagen Wano as my character's brother Jesús. He was honestly one of my favorite people to work with — ever — as we ran our scene backstage multiple times every single night. It was so comforting and fun knowing our fallback was a well-oiled machine we could do in our sleep. In return, we had such a time with our scene every night. If people ever comment on my work, I feel they bring up this role more than any other I've had in recent memory! Thanks to directors Timothy Stewart and Megan Montgomery, and my fellow actors, I put out some of my best comedic work.

I also got to share the stage with a prime group of females: Holly McNatt (whom I starred with in her play Blueprints for a Breakup — a great memory of mine), Crystal Barby (long known, but first time on the stage together), and an ensemble of funny ladies — Joey, Tiffany, Cory, and Brooke. They all helped make this an incredible experience for me, and I'm thankful to the Pollard for taking a chance on me again. Hope there's a few more in there. :)

Shout out to the awesome crew: Annette (OUTSTANDING costumes), Henry, Michael, Larz, Jared, Joel, Luna, Laila (for the licorice), and Ollie.

I'm sharing some photos to help me remember this. Also, this Whitney song was the first one played when the house was open. It really does bring back a flood of positive memories. Thank you to everyone who made the drive to Guthrie to see me work. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I had fun being in it.

Push days are the first and easiest of my four-day week — though easier isn't saying much.

I have to give credit to my trainer Lauren Merk for showing me the way. A trainer is so much more than a workout planner. She's shown me technique and variety while pushing me past my limits every session.

But you can only lead a horse to water.

For two and a half years I've been showing up and doing the work. Four days a week. Two and a half hours at a time. That part is on me.

My final max test was bench press, and I continued my trend of setting PRs for myself:

Bench Press:
205 lbs x 5 reps

I was especially proud of this one, as anything north of 200 lbs was major struggle for me. All of that considering I jumped up so much on my deadlifts and back squats. Consistency, determination, and a world class trainer helped me reach this goal.

Time to shift to 4 by 8s!

Max week continues, and I’ve pushed another PR for myself on my favorite exercise!

Conventional Deadlifts:
320 lbs x 5 reps

My gains are getting harder to build, but consistency, form, passion, (and a good trainer) are what continues to push me through as I get older.

I’m very proud of my new max lifts! I reached a PR of 265 lbs x 5 reps and 275 x 3 reps on my back squats, and I can finally say I squat more than I weight! Thank you to my trainer @sportygrllar, who has been a guiding light in my fitness journey (which I’m well over a year and a half in).

I’m very pleased with how my legs are developing. It’s a great feeling knowing I can no longer fit in my old skinny jeans (I think that’s probably for the best). 😅
