50 Years of a beautiful career choice

October 12, 2026, marks 50 years since I received my cosmetology license. Wow… what a journey it has been! ❤️

It all began in Michigan, with a dream and a passion for making people feel beautiful. Little did I know where this career would take me.

I took a leap of faith, packed up my dreams, and moved to sunny San Diego, California. After four years of working behind the chair at the salon, an opportunity came along to purchase the salon. I took another leap of faith and purchased it for $11,000!

Thirty-nine years later, Headlines The Salon is still my joy.

Over these 50 years, I’ve had the privilege of building beautiful relationships with my clients, sharing in their lives, and experiencing the incredible satisfaction of helping them look and feel their very best.

My career has taken me places I never imagined—traveling with Eufora, teaching leadership classes across the United States, Canada, and England, and connecting with so many talented people in our industry.

But when I reflect on these 50 years, my greatest joy isn’t about what I’ve accomplished. It’s about watching others accomplish their dreams.

Seeing stylists grow, blossom, build confidence, create wonderful careers, and earn a great living doing something they love. Watching some move on to open their own successful salons, knowing that I played even a small part in their journey/their dreams gives me a deep sense of purpose.

I am so grateful for every client who has trusted me, every stylist who has walked through our doors, and every person who has been part of my story.

Fifty years ago, I chose cosmetology. And 50 years later, I would choose it all over again. ❤️

Here’s to the beauty of a career that has given me so much more than I ever dreamed possible.

As we wrap up another incredible year, we can’t help but reflect on how grateful we are for our amazing team at Headlines The Salon. This holiday season has been nothing short of busy, but together, we’ve created magic for our clients, supported one another, and truly embodied what it means to be a family.

To celebrate getting through the hustle and bustle, we hosted a glamorous Hollywood-themed party at one of our favorite places, Amalfi Enoteca.
