@davidmenkes and I finally made it over to @morihiroatwater, a Michelin star omakase experience in Atwater Village. Chef Mori is a master at work. The dishes and sake pairing were a journey of the variety and seasonal ingredients that Japan has to offer. Every dish was presented on pottery that Mori handcrafted himself. He also grows his own rice on his private farm in Japan. That rice was gifted to us at the end of the meal. Can’t wait to cook it in my rice cooker at home. Overall high marks for this one of a kind dining experience!

We have an amazing #chocolate community who have come together during these tough and uncertain times in our world and the @stayhomewithchocolate festival was formed and has been in full force since Tuesday. On Saturday, March 28th at 9pm ET I will be going live on Instagram (yes we switched) with David Menkes of @letterpresschocolate! David is a chocolate maker based in Los Angeles, CA and we will be getting to celebrate their 6th Anniversary live! We will get to dive into some questions about his chocolate journey and do a guided chocolate tasting of 4 of his bars! Guess What? He is going to have these 4 bars as a special bundle on their website for you to grab! As a special promotion during this live session, anyone who purchases this bundle in the next 1-2 weeks will get our chocolate tasting guide and sheet and be invited to an exclusive live chocolate tasting with us (date tbd) via a video Zoom call and be able to ask him more questions about his chocolate process and journey! Tune in on our instagram Live tomorrow! Thanks so much to @uncommoncacao @chocoinstitute @craftchocolateexperience for putting this all together for all of us to share our passion and love for chocolate and getting to support our dear chocolate friends! #letterpresschocolate #chocotastery #stayhomewithchocolate #chocolatetasting #socialdistancing #socialdistancingwithchocolate #4barbundles #craftchocolate #beantobar #mustlovechocolate #tastechocolate #finechocolate #shopsmall

At @letterpresschocolate I was able to watch magic happen and by magic I mean the systematic chocolate wrapping by Corey and David.

I’ve known Corey and David Menkes of @letterpresschocolate since I started attending the Northwest Chocolate Festival, Fine Chocolate Industry Association meetings and other festivals and events through the years and it’s so great to see how far they have grown as a brand and company and the delicious chocolate they produce. It was such a pleasure to hang out in their factory and check them out in their element. The crazy cracker and winnower to their shelves full of nibs to their pristine workspaces and effective systems they have in place. To meet Magnus their first DCM 100 and then to help unbox their second, named Mildred. What is most impressive is the intricate detail on their new molds! You can see just how fine those imprints are and how they are filled perfectly with no air bubbles! Their new Tranquilidad bar dons the new mold so order it soon!

Big news out of Culver City today as one of the best bean to bar chocolate makers @letterpresschocolate announced the release of three new chocolate bars! Among them their long awaited, highly anticipated Bachelor's Hall Jamaican 70% dark chocolate bar. Also released is their new Tingo Maria Peruvian 70% dark and a coffee/chocolate Mocha bar made with Alibi coffee. . I was lucky enough to take home or try these chocolates a month ago when I toured their shop so the packaging in my photo was temporary and David and Corey have since repackaged each bar with their own colors. The Jamaican packaging in particular moves away from Leterpress's iconic design as a sign that this bar is its own unique and exciting thing. . I suggest people buy 3-4 bars and try them all at the same time to really taste the difference in the beans. It's insane how distinct each bar tastes. As a bonus, Letterpress always has tasting notes on the back of the packaging, so you can really sit back and try to decipher the flavors of each bar, sort of like tasting fine wine. . I'm excited to dive in and try these chocolates, maybe with friends... time for a chocolate tasting party?! . #dikbites #letterpress #chocolate #jamaican #peruvian #mocha #coffee #tingomaria #bachelorshall

Pleasure visiting Letterpress last Friday on a layover from China! . Letterpress chocolate was one of the early supporters of Costa Esmeraldas, they have grown with us over the years. They are currently cranking four-fold of what they did not too long ago, no stop on growth in sight with these guys! . With more awards than Titanic, they are conquering Hollywood 1 award winning chocolate bar at a time! We are proud to see the Letterpress Costa Esmeraldas 70% and 85% Dark won 4 awards, keep them coming guys! . Forgot to mention an Esmeraldas batch was conveniently being processed for photographic purposes (given my 40min notice)! . #costaesmeraldas #hollywood #losangeles #chocolatetour #awardwinning #layover #beantobar #beantobarchocolate #craft #craftchocolate #tourist #tourslosangeles #farm #shawarmas

@DavidMenkes is on an obsessive quest to express terroir through his @letterpresschocolate, which goes heavy on pure chocolate flavor. It’s chocolate born of origin, fermentation, and craft. We're big fans of his Peruvian Ucayali variety. #StarChefs #LARisingStars
