@davidpexton thanks for my new favorite portrait! Nowhere does sketchy underground parking garages better than NYC! It’s where everything bad happened in every eighties movie.

I did a thing yesterday and I’m all kinds of grateful for the brilliant people who helped me along my journey of becoming a MASTER of Fine Arts. @gabrielledamico and @alice_00_oneill, thank you for your genius and kind mentorship. You both gave me tremendous insight into the writing process and I can’t believe I was lucky enough to learn from you. @hickswriter, you have been the guiding force behind our incredible Maslow Family Graduate Program and I’m still so honored you asked me to become part of our distinguished faculty back in 2022. I came in with a professional “degree” having earned my 10,000 hours in a writing/performing career and I now get to add an official academic graduate degree, a goal I’m proud I’ve achieved. David Hicks said, “Do it! You’re gonna love it!” And I have to say, he was right. Teaching in this program and then becoming a student in the very same program has been beyond satisfying for this nerd girl. What a gift! The spirit of Wilkes University is to provide opportunity for ALL - regardless of financial or academic background. So if you’ve been thinking about getting your MA or MFA in Creative Writing and you need flexibility for work, family, or finances, consider this program. If you want to learn from some of the best creative minds who also possess the biggest hearts, then don’t just consider our program, DO IT! You’re gonna love it! Genres: Screenwriting, Playwriting, Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry. Link in bio or DM me for more info! #graduation #mfa #wilkesuniversity #writer #nerdgirl

Ending this weirdo year still feeling very grateful. For relationships that have grown deeper, the wonderful people I’ve met, new corners of the world I’ve seen, and all the ways life continues to grow bigger, sweeter and more surreal every day. Soaking in the final festive days of 2025 and wishing everyone the happiest new year ✨🪩🥩

New Headshots Alert!! Beautifully captured by @davidpexton ❤️❤️ Somewhere along this journey, the purpose became bigger than me! My words started to hold more weight and my influence began to infiltrate the youth. And I owe it to them to continue to show up, to fight and to show them just a fraction of what poetry can be. It’s been bitter sweet leaving the classrooms I’ve touched in NYC but I know that my impact is global and my job is no where near done. I will continue that work in Houston and beyond. So here’s to new beginnings, new headshots, new students and an upgraded version of ME! 🥂 Love y’all ❤️ 🎶: @shanellegabriel

This just popped up on my Google photo memories from 2019... woah who is that finely honed beast??! 🤣 This fight at Gleasons with my friend and coach Q in my corner (see him bottom right) sealed the end to a journey of self discovery and growth living in Brooklyn, where I had an amazing love affair with the City and myself. The biggest love of your life should be YOU! Shout out to the wonderful family at @gleasonsgym which was like my 2nd home... to @qqualityfitness for being an amazing coach who always pushed me beyond where I thought I could go. And to @davidpexton photographer and dear friend who captured the fight night and my ferocity 💥
