One rally. Over 1,000 voices. One powerful message. NOT FOR SALE. 📢

A look back at an incredible day at Balmoral Beach, where over 1,000 people came together to stand up for the future of Middle Head and HMAS Penguin.

To everyone who showed up, spoke out and helped make this rally possible — thank you. Your support is what keeps this campaign moving forward.

**The rally may be over, but our campaign continues.**

Now it's time to turn that momentum into action.

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS TO SENATOR DAVID SHOEBRIDGE, RECIPIENT OF THE 2026 AUSTRALIAN ABYSSINIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD! 🌟

Justice. Courage. Solidarity. Standing Up for Others.

Mission of Hope is proud to announce Senator David Shoebridge as the recipient of the 2026 Australian Abyssinian of the Year Award.

The Abyssinian Award draws inspiration from one of the earliest examples of interfaith solidarity in Islamic history, when a Christian ruler of Abyssinia, known as the Negus, offered protection to persecuted Muslims seeking refuge.

It honours the principle that justice transcends faith, ethnicity and background, recognising Australians who stand alongside Muslim communities, defend their rights and advocate for fairness and dignity.

Senator @davidshoebridge 's public record includes advocacy on issues of particular significance to Australian Muslims, including:

✦ Challenging Islamophobia: Speaking against anti-Muslim prejudice and challenging discriminatory rhetoric in the Australian Parliament.

✦ Defending Civil Liberties: Advocating for human rights, freedom of expression and the right of communities to participate in public life without discrimination.

✦ Standing with Palestinian Communities: Supporting Palestinian human rights, calling for accountability over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and advocating for stronger Australian government action.

✦ Supporting Refugees and Vulnerable Families: Raising concerns about Australia's treatment of people seeking protection, including Palestinian families fleeing conflict.

✦ Community Solidarity: Engaging with Palestinian, Lebanese and other multicultural communities, and raising concerns about racism and political targeting.

👏 Congratulations, Senator David Shoebridge, on being named the 2026 Australian Abyssinian of the Year!
We look forward to recognising this award at the 2026 Australian Muslim Achievement Awards.

🚫 HMAS Penguin and its ancient Angophora forest are NOT for sale.
Last Sunday, I joined the community at Balmoral Rotunda for the Not For Sale rally to oppose the proposed sale of HMAS Penguin at Middle Head — including precious remnant Angophora forest and heritage land on Sydney Harbour.
It was powerful to stand alongside so many people who care deeply about this place, including The Hon. Peter Garrett AM, Senator Jess Collins and Senator David Shoebridge.
This is public Commonwealth land. It is home to irreplaceable bushland and threatened species, including the Powerful Owl and Grey-headed Flying Fox. Once harbourside bushland like this is sold and redeveloped, it is lost to the public forever.
We must send a clear message to the Federal Government:
🌿 Our Crown land is not for sale to private developers.
🌿 Sydney Harbour bushland is heritage, habitat and community — not a site for expensive mid-rise apartments.
🌿 Keep the promise to protect the bushlands of Sydney Harbour.
It’s our heritage. It’s our future. It’s our land.

Hundreds of people joined our sold-out campaign launch last week!

Victorians know that life is tougher because the corporate parties have spent years selling off the public services we all rely on to their mates.

But the Greens are here to change things, and to take on the major parties and big corporations.

And everyone in the room and spilling onto the street on Thursday was ready to make that happen.

If you’re fed up with the old parties, it’s time to replace them. greens.org.au/join

As an Australian-Jordanian citizen and a doctor involved in humanitarian work for Gaza, I ask SBS and PANZMA: who blurred my face in this footage, and why?

In November 2025, I publicly shared this very same footage documenting the wheelchairs awaiting entry into Gaza.

The focus must remain on Gaza, the children waiting for these wheelchairs, and transparency in the humanitarian work carried out in their name.

Blurring an image does not erase the record.

Hundreds of volunteers. Thousands of doors. The biggest and best event of this campaign.

And we had such a great time that we're going to do it all again.

Events like this are about collective power. They're about the impact people can have on their local community - and the impact that being active in the community has on people.

On November 1, we're going to be going out in Richmond, Melbourne and Prahran, to have even more conversations with locals about our plan to make life affordable and put people before corporate profit.

And @davidshoebridge is coming down to join us!

RSVP via link in bio - see you there!

What do you say when you meet your heroes?!
Honestly, we mainly talked about the art hanging in his office - no surprise from me there! 🤣

What do we want? A gas tax.
What is Labor delivering? Another favour factory with their favourite gas donors!

📣 Labor: do a deal for Australians. Tax our gas exports a minimum 25% so we can finally raise some revenue, bring down the cost of living and fund the clean energy transition. It’s a no-brainer.

Gas tax. Now.

BREAKING: A clear majority of Aussies want rent caps and direct investment in public housing!

A new study commissioned by the @theausinstitute shows overwhelming support for intervention to make housing genuinely affordable.

Let’s make unlimited rent increases illegal and get our public housing stock back up to at least 10%.
