Featuring pieces from Julio Morales & David von Kampen!

From Morales:
A delightful and accessible work great for developing voices, "Felicidad (Happiness)" reminds us that happiness can be found in all aspects of life, even during difficult times.

From von Kampen:
"Lovely Appear" is a beautiful, mostly unison setting of Gounod’s adaptation of "Isaiah 52" for mixed voices. Works beautifully for children’s choir!

all. the. feels.

this week will be filed in the “remember forever” section of my brain.

i remember baby Taryn singing at the Basically Basie Festival *years* ago. i sang a Diane Schurr chart - as assigned by my Jazz Dad Craig Treinen. i left the festival even more in love with this music. *peep the award certificate I dug out of storage at my folks house just for this post*

what an honor it was to serve as a KCKCC JAZZ Summit clinician, and sit alongside such brilliant musicians and educators - and what a thrill it was to watch their artistry working with young people.
this week has my heart bursting. the full circle moments are stacked to the sky and I just couldn’t be more grateful for the people who guided me here.

an absolute JOY to work with some incredible groups - and see just how special this music is through young student’s eyes and hearts.
To end the week watching my students open for THE Count Basie Orchestra and seeing the QUEEN Deborah Brown join the band for a jaw slacking performance is truly tough to beat.
THANK YOU @jim_lower_jazz @clarencejazz @stanton.kessler.7 @chrishazeltonb3 @davidvonkampen @thejeffbaker @alex.manfredo for such a great hang this week. The GREATEST Cheers to my dear friends and Colleagues John Stafford, Justin Binek, and @sweetmelodiousjackson Brett Jackson for your incredible work, and for trusting me to be at the judge’s table. KCKCC feels like home to me, and I’m so proud to be a part of this stellar team.
