Crawling out of my editing cave to shout about this week’s fantastic group of writers! Several of these authors were 2025 debut buddies with me & their books are phenomenal, while others have work coming out that I’m very very excited to get my hands on or are absolute pillars in the writing community.

If you’re looking for author and book recs for 2026 and haven’t seen my previous posts, I’ve started a weekly series called Writer Wednesday, where I highlight five writers I recommend keeping in touch with! This series will be inclusive, so you’ll be able to find your new favorite authors in various stages of their publishing journeys—drafting a first book, jumping into the query trenches, on submission with a literary agent, an indie author, a debut author, an established author with a backlist, and so on! I hope this will be a chance for all readers to broaden the scope of what they typically read and connect with both established authors and writers whose careers are just beginning to take off. Until next week, friends! 🫶

Whoopsie daisels, working on a new wip 🌾🌞.

The only sequel—the final book in the series—and @davonamapp_author’s precious baby that I must live up to: SUN.

🌾1930s northeastern Appalachia: Dust Bowl to the west, Great Depression here at home
🌾The railroad’s come to Whitehill. So has a carnival with raw magicks and occult talents
🌾Sister POVs, each with their own romantic subplot. One a honey-drenched, friends-to-lovers, sapphic, small town romance. One a tattooed newcomer with a few deadly secrets up his sleeve.
🌾Southern Gothic vibes
🌾Anger as necessary part of healing
🌾A happy ending, I pinky promise
🌾Hot summer sweat, fire in the blood, inked nightmares, blackberry stains, the sweltering itch of something gone wrong
🌾True Blood x Practical Magic

Did not mean to write this book while we’re *reliving* dust storms, tariffs, and crashing economies, but—you know—art imitates life. Will be therapeutic 🫠.

“But didn’t you say—“

Yes, yes I did, the plan has changed.

Something (vague) fundamentally locked in when I finished my revision. I was eager to beta Earth and get her polished, but writing the final book makes a lot more sense now.

Get the whole series figured out.

Get Sun down on paper.

✨Then✨ make the big canon changes for the whole series, instead of working piecemeal.

A girl can also fit some research in there. She can tell herself that *cough* and ignore the books crying, “SHAME!” from the shelf. Stars will just have to wait.

But we’re here! We’re doing it!

🔥THE LAST ONE🔥

I don’t have much of this book plotted, so if you need me, I’ll be submerged in the 🌞VIBES🌞, trying to figure that out 🖤✨.

Found this #bookishtag on @pnrbookloverreviews and, since it was timely decided to go ahead and do it 🎄❤️🎄

It wasn’t as easy as I thought, as I don’t focus much on that while reading. I’m a character and setting lover which I know and can recognised. Still, I went ahead and dug dipper, and here’s the result of that exploration 😅
I’m sure I forgot some, but hey, here it is.

I will tag a few of you but feel free to tag yourself 😊

Post 2/2: Stars’s Blackout Poems ❄️✨

@davonamapp_author absolutely killed these, and I’m just sitting here in utter awe 🥹🫠.

Moon’s are up as a separate post with a longer caption if you want to take a peek!

Cannot wait to return to this story once my R&R is done 😩 (and to get it into some betas’ hands 👀).

While deep in revisions, I joked in a group chat—“Also someone do that blackout poem for me. That’s dope. I should do it but it sounds like work 😂”—and I guess the moral of the story is speak your desires into the universe because there might be a DAVONA on the other side, working as a ✨literal goddess✨ to manifest them into reality.

OBSESSED. She is a MAGIC MAKER.

There are two for each project—Moon & Stars—and I cannot choose between them for the life of me (proof that I would have struggled with this task 😅). Opted for a carousel, and I’m going to double post as well, so each project gets their spotlight on the grid.

But seriously, this is so special 😩😭. It made me fall in love with these pages all over again, seeing them through someone else’s eyes. Some else making something I’ve read a thousand times new and interesting. Cannot thank you enough for doing this for me, @davonamapp_author! 🖤🖤🖤

📌My life as pinterest boards📌

Procrastinating by making Pinterest boards is my favorite pastime, so of course I had to join this trend. Thank you to @chaotic.pagesofjae for introducing me to it!

*:･ﾟ✧ My bookstagram
I talk about books I loved, my writing milestones or goals, and the places I travel.
*:･ﾟ✧ My favorite genre to read
High or urban fantasy. Anything with adventure, high stakes, magic, and battle or war.
*:･ﾟ✧ My favorite color
Brown: the color of comfort, warmth, and stability.
*:･ﾟ✧My favorite music
I mostly listen to R&B. Lifelong beyhive, but my favorite artist right now is FLO.
*:･ﾟ✧My major
I study English. My favorite era of literature to study is the Harlem Renaissance.

Tagged a few friends who I would love to see do this challenge, but no pressure :))

You know, in retrospect, that’s what I should have flexed about reading: your work. The glimmering potential, the spark of new ideas just beginning to take shape, the tenth attempt to strike a passage so it resonates like crystal glass. All the ships, all the heartache, all the intrigue that I know someday—when it’s bound and placed on shelves—readers will chase deep into the night and swoon over for days, months, years. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sometimes it’s messy as hell. Sometimes its polish sends me into an academic tizzy, and I spend all my time close reading a single paragraph to filth. Occasionally, I help. Other times, not so much. But always, I’m honored that you let me into your world while it was still fragile and thrumming with possibility. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
To those brave enough to share snippets here on IG, and especially to those who let me beta, know I’m always here hyping you up 🖤✨. ⁣⁣
⁣
(Tagging always amps my anxiety like crazy, so PS—I hope I got everyone who’s shared work with me, but if I missed you, let me know and I’ll fix it!!) ⁣
