Milestone Permit #100! Still smiling, still learning in hopes of the existential goal of “figuring em’ out” I am fortunate and grateful to reach this goal. Many thanks to the people that helped me along the way. Thanks to OnionCreekflyco on this one for providing me with the right crab for the right moment.

Salar Incomparabile 3 5/8″ with a Clear Silver anodised finish. Looking good, don’t you think?

The updated Standard Arbor version features revised spool porting for improved ventilation and weighs approximately 10 grams less than the original model.

First visit to the Klamath River in NorCal and what a pleasure it was.

Hosted by the two and only @galgonefishing and @daxmessett and their crew in the land of giants to seek wild steelhead with a mix of half pounders and migratory fish.

Now liberated of 4 dams, the evidence of recovery is already in plain sight. This is a healthy watershed with a ton of life that hopefully only gets better over time.

Spey curious anglers would have a blast and those training for Spey-O-Rama would enjoy ample opportunity to extend long casts as well.

This is just a peak, more to come including dates for next year…

As we feel the fingers of fall begin to grab summer and pull it away, we become excited for what the cooler weather means for swinging flies in the region.

Crisp mornings, colored leaves and skating flies among other things but…

It also means we are looking forward to our annual spey day on the Snoqualmie River, this next year on January 30th from 9am to 3pm.

This is a FREE event for both seasoned and novice or two hand curious anglers.

We put this on to engage and educate. To provide a unique opportunity to try as many different rods as possible before you purchase and have face time with a few of those who help to shape two hand casting these days.

Wear your waders, get in the water, ask questions…we are here for you!

Enjoy fall and see you in January.

Our Central Oregon Comrade Chris O’Donnell is making the trip to drop some Spey knowledge on us this year. His presentation, “Quit Hitting Yourself”, will hit close to home for many of you. Every guide has pulled hooks out of flesh, bone, clothes, you name it, but Chris leads the pack with 39 extractions already in 2026! Help lower these numbers by attending this presentation the Rogue Spey Clave. Stop the madness!

A little about Chris:

Chris O’Donnell owns and operates Bend Fly Shop and has been an Oregon based guide for over two decades. Most days on the water with Chris involve casting two-handed rods, where his thoughts come together for spey presentations. Chris’ approach to teaching leans towards simplicity. During all his spare time Chris loves tacos, beer, deep wading and catching snakes. He lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife and daughter.
