This is my important box. It is an old shipping box that I kept because I loved the angel design on the sides. When Christa Ovenell @deathsapprentice.ca shared the idea of filling a box with notes, photos, and trinkets - a gift for your people to find after you have died - I was so moved and I already had the perfect box!
.
This important box sits under my desk and I add to it when I come across poems, photos, or inspirations that I want to share with my three sons. It has been such a life affirming process to add to this box. It is comforting to know that this will hold them when I am not here.

Today, being Valentine’s Day, I decided to write my boys a love letter 💌 to add to the box.

I am currently guiding a group of folks through Stephen Levine’s book “A Year To Live,” and I woke up today as if it were to be my last Valentine’s Day. And no . . . this isn’t just sad and heavy, it is really about how to live fully. What would I want my boys to know about love? About our relationship now and always?
.
This exercise broke me open and made my heart swell.

Love is the only reality.

Today’s challenge is a tough one but we can do it!!

Death brings out the worst in people-it’s true. I have seen countless families torn apart after the death of a loved one.

Some betrayals feel like they are unforgivable and perhaps there are some that are. If this is the case for you and you are being eaten alive inside by negative emotions and thoughts you may not be ready to forgive those who hurt you, but you can FORGIVE YOUSELF for being simply human and allow yourself to grieve the loss.

Today’s challenge is to forgive someone who hurt you.

This can be as simple as easy as forgiving the guy who cut you off in traffic this morning or forgiving the neighbor who lets their dog poop on your lawn.

If you want to dive deep and forgive someone who has wronged you in the worst way today is a good day to start the work toward a positive mindset.

Release the hatred, pain, and angst and just start repeating “ ________, I forgive you”
