Join me this Friday 5-7 @hechoamanoorg for Miss Universe. I think Miss Universe is the duality of being infinitely powerful. The images are meant to be overtly beautiful- yet creepy. They visually arrest you and then you realize they’re powerful and not to be fucked with. If I tagged you- please join! And share :)

Congratulations to Debra Baxter on her write up in @thisiscolossal! Debra’s show “Ascent” is on view now through October 3rd. This is Santa Fe based sculptor Debra Baxter’s third solo show at Roq La Rue. Known for her mixed media sculptures than investigate the cross section of femininity, vulnerability, and a punk rock streak of toughness, her new show Ascent portrays woman mystics who have experienced direct, vivid connection with the divine through meditation and ecstatic visions. This show was particularly inspired by the artists studying woman mystics in the 1400’s, their impact on history, as well as considering modern mystics that are alive now and how they appear in our increasingly splintered and divisive world. You can view @debrabaxterstudio show “Ascent” now at roqlarue.com Visit in person Fridays/Saturdays 11-5pm

Coming up in September - “Ascent” a new solo show from artist Debra Baxter. We’re thrilled to welcome Debra back to Roq! “Ascent” is informed by her research into women mystics who experience vivid connection with the sacred through meditation and ecstatic visions. For these women, the boundary between the material and the divine becomes thin, porous, crossable. With 10 new sculptures including “Shift” seen here (cropped) this show is one not to be missed. Opening reception is September 11th 6-9pm. Artist will be in attendance. To sign-up for the preview of Baxter’s show head to the link in our profile. DEBRA BAXTER Thrilled to share these new photos of the amazing and talented @debrabaxterstudio. Seriously, people, she has work in the @smithsonian! (But she’s also just generally an amazing person, and I’m proud and grateful to call her my friend.) Deb has an upcoming show in Seattle that’s going to be incredible(!). A couple of weeks ago, I visited her studio in Santa Fe - to see all of the work that will be in her show, and to create some new artist portraits featuring some of that work! Scroll to the end to see a particularly special piece. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣ Santa Fe, #NewMexico. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #santafephotographer #newmexicowomeninthearts #albuquerquephotographer #newmexicophotographer

#2016 was the year I was giving birth to a lot of you Witches 🤣🧿 I actually launched @thehoodwitch in 2014 but 2016 was one of the most amazing years ever! 2016 was the year my work and business were formally recognized for shaping an aesthetic that’s now standard across modern witch branding and that started with a HUGE feature for @voguemagazine Nearly a decade later, you’re still seeing echoes of my influence and that visual language everywhere. Collaborations, creative risks, and two nail polish launches with a brand I genuinely loved. Somewhere between NYFW invites, meeting Stevie Nicks, VIP concerts, traveling and dancing with my friends, The Hoodwitch stopped being “an idea” and became the blueprint. Looking back now, it’s obvious. The aesthetic. The voice. The way I merged magic with culture. A lot of what feels familiar today was already being written then and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and yet I feel like I’m only just beginning. 🥰 I LOVE every single one of you who has been on this journey from the beginning! I wish I could add more photos than 20 I feel like there’s still so many missing but I guess these will do. #2016 #Thehoodwitch #creator #destroyer

I’m part of DJ Chris Tofu & Continental Drifts’ 30-year celebration — one party, two cities. I’ll be MCing, dropping Shona toasts over DJ Tofu’s set, and also DJing original productions. When the drum calls, the feet don’t argue. Expect a proper party — mixed genres, DJs, bands, performers and surprises, the way Continental Drifts does it best. 30 years deep No borders, just sound Yes… helping DJ Tofu’s teeth 😄 London | Fri 31 Jan – Fox & Firkin Bristol | Fri 7 Feb – Lost Horizon #Drum and bass #reels #continental #celebration
