A small group of WRC rowers competed in the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend in Boston & Cambridge, MA. Everyone’s hard work paid off because WRC rowers were in crews fast enough to win medals! @mikes1x2x & @kgruber08 were both the winners of their respective categories! @edmistonjy was part of the inspirational Survivor Row in a mixed quad with ladies from the UK & lads from Ireland. They came in 2nd and all of the other boats in this event were eights! @alixajames1 was in a very competitive veteran women’s eights races, coming away with a 3rd place medal! She also was in the women’s quad race on Sunday with friends from Canada & the US. Doug Green came in 5th place in the veteran men’s eights races, securing a spot in next year’s race. @cljhenken was a first timer at the Head of the Charles and took on the course in a single! Massive congratulations to everyone who took part or played a part in this weekend’s amazing results for Wilmington Rowing Center! HOCR Sunday (mostly) 📸 🎥 photo dump. The weather held out for great racing and spectating, the vendor and exhibitors tents were busy, the networking and catching up with friends (and meeting new ones) was exceptional, but recharging my motivational battery 🪫🔋 was likely the best part of all. . The youth and collegiate crews were awesome (especially watching my #sub7irc teammate Isaiah Harrison stroke for Dartmouth), so many great Master’s boats, and of course Saturday’s Survivor event and 14 boats full of courage and perhaps a little dose of nervousness, but they got it done! . In pic 4, I’m with U.S. Marine (and atty) Chelsea whom I first met at the San Diego Crew Classic in March. She and a few fellow Marines were surprised that I put in a 75-minute-long session on the Erg after my race. lol. Pic 5, so glad to run into Ben & Julie . . . their son Hunter coxed me in a 2k rack back in 2016 . . . he went on to row at Temple and I always enjoy hearing about things @pvriverfrontclub Pic 6, had a great chat with the folks from the @pararowingfoundation and discussed how we can support their efforts through our SURVIVErg program Pic 7, #usrowing Director of Competition and all around great person Sarah McAuliffe Pics 8&9, 4x racing partners @declanwatson27 and Mahinda Ferdinando . . . we certainly missed having @luv_sculling Napoleon Griffin with us this time

History was made yesterday on Mission Bay as the #survivorrowingnetwork teamed up with the @crewclassic to host the first-ever SRN x SDCC Survivor Row - also our first SR on the west coast. 🚣 20 cancer Survivors l 8 rowing programs l 2 Composite 8+s l 1 Composite 4x! We are incredibly grateful to @bseminoffsmith and the SDCC team for hosting us with the VIP treatment. A special shout out to 2x Olympic gold medalist and @rowingcares friend @susan_francia for awarding our medals- an unforgettable moment we will cherish always. 💕💕💕 Thank you @jlracing! Ok, so for my third try after not rowing for 18 months, I decide 5x2k is a good idea. Inspired by Declan. That was truly stupid. And horrible. And slow. In my usual fashion I set an aggressive plan. That was already gone half way through interval 2 when reality set in and I nearly threw the handle. The rest was a simply a battle to stay on. Raising awareness of Multiple Myeloma.
