Today is not the Father’s Day I had ever imagined.

I looked forward to handmade mugs that leak, macaroni pictures and crayon drawings. Eventually turning into coffees together, bike rides, shared hobbies, talking shit and watching sport and motorsport together.

I imagined watching my little boy grow up. I imagined Father’s Day changing as he did.

But instead, today I celebrate Bereaved Father’s Day.

A day to remember the dads who have lost children, and all of the moments and Father’s Days we imagined we would have.

For me, today is for my son, Parker James, who passed away on the 15th of August.

Whether you’ve experienced loss or not, I’d love for you to find one small slice of joy today in memory of Parker.

Go for a walk. Enjoy some sunshine. Have a good coffee. Go for a drive. Light a candle. Take five minutes for yourself.

Whatever happiness looks like for you, find it and enjoy it.

You don’t need to be sad for Parker.
I’d much rather you be happy for him.

To the dads experiencing Bereaved Father’s Day, please look after yourselves. Talk to someone. Be angry. Cry. Laugh. There is no correct way to do this.

To everyone else, put a little good back into the world today. Help a stranger. Ask someone how their day is. Tell a mate you appreciate them.

If you have kids, hug them tight. Tell them you love them and you’re proud of them.

And if you’re not currently in their lives, maybe today is the day to put the ego and history aside and reach out.

You never know how many opportunities you’ll get to say “I love you.”

And to every dad carrying the memory of a child today:

They mattered.
They are remembered.
And so are you.

Happy Bereaved Father’s Day.

And if you can, have a little moment of happiness for my boy, Parker.

Introducing - COACH DEE (she/her)

Hey #teamtgen 👋💃🏻

I’m Coach Dee @deehealthfitco and you’ll likely see me dancing, twirling or cartwheeling around our new home.

While I may be new to the TGen community, I have been fully immersed in the coaching and fitness industry for 10 years. In that time I’ve developed a passion for helping humans find movement they love, connect to their bodies, and live life pain-free.

I like to explain myself as a biomechanics nerd, if someone has a problem with a movement, I’m the gal to troubleshoot it 🤓

I take a holistic approach to coaching - how can we align daily routines, stress management and exercise to set up our busy brains and bodies up for success.

I’ve found in my own lived experience, and through my clients over the years, how freeing it can be to unlock our mind to body connection.

My favourite movement and coaching styles are powerlifting (feel like a boss babe lifting heavy shit), yoga (iron out all the kinks and caring for your joints), and dance (but in the way where you put on your favourite bangers and just bust out a few moves).

Outside of the gym, I am an avid reader, arts and crafter, proud fur-mumma to 2 cats and 1 doggo, and love anything to do with nature.

Oh and pasta, pasta, pasta!!! 🍝
