And that’s Antony done.

A few months ago, I was wondering how the hell you fit this much history into 95 minutes. Turns out, you throw yourself at it and hope Shakespeare catches you.

I loved getting to live inside this one. I loved the size of it, the mess of it, the language, the restlessness, the ambition, and the fact that underneath all the empire and mythology, it’s really just two people trying to survive each other.

Huge love to @akina__xx for being every bit the queen she was destined to play, and for meeting me in the middle of all that chaos every night. And to Sonya Suares for steering us with a version of the play that felt timely, muscular, and very much alive.

And to the incredible cast and crew who made fortyfivedownstairs feel like Rome, Egypt, and a total pressure cooker. There was a lot of sweat involved. Plus everyone who came along and sat in the dark with us, thank you.

I’ll miss him.
But not the beard.

It’s been previously announced that Jason Donovan @jdonofficial and Nadine Garner @nadinegarneroffical will star in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest and will premiere in Melbourne from the 13th November 2026.

Today it’s been announced the rest of the cast will be - internationally acclaimed actor Jeremy Proulx as Chief Bromden, Harvey Almond as Dr. Spivey, Martin Blum as Scanlon, Chris Connelly as Ruckley/Aide Turkle, Mia Dabkowski-Chandler as Nurse Flynn/Sandra, Darcey Eagle as Candy Starr, Gyton Grantley as Cheswick, David James as Harding, George Kapiniaris as Martini, Daniel R. Nixon as Billy Bibbit, Jack Scott as Aide Williams, Deep Sroaas Aide Warren.

Director Roger Hodgman said - Bringing together a company of actors of this calibre is a director’s dream. I’m looking forward to seeing this outstanding ensemble discover the relationships, tensions and humanity that make this story so powerful, and to creating a production that is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking.”

Set in a psychiatric hospital, it follows Randle McMurphy, a charismatic convict who fakes insanity to avoid prison labor, and his subsequent war of wills against the ward’s authoritarian head, Nurse Ratched.
