🚨Last weekend, we didn’t just throw a party; we made history. We packed out @BRIC’s Ballroom with over 400 people for a sold out show to celebrate Dilla and raise funds for Building Beats. NYC really showed out for the 20th anniversary of @Donutsareforever. The energy was on 💯‼️ Huge love to the maestros who kept the vibes right all night: @DJSpinna, @dj_bles_sed , @djtaranyc , and @Questlove. This was a one-of-a-kind experience that would not have been possible without you. A massive salute to our partners at @RareformNYC! Thank you for helping us curate an unbelievable, historic night. I watched living legend @questlove wipe away tears playing released and unreleased Dilla tracks. I witnessed my friends and my sister be great. Reunited with my guys and danced all night to tracks I never heard. @donutsareforever was one to remember and NYC does it again. Feast your eyes on a selection of shots from the official set of photos from DAF3 (2009). This went down at a venue called Public Assemby (fka Galapagos Art Space, the site of the very first DAF) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The headliners for that night were @geology365 and @waajeed. The hosts were @donwill and @vonpea of the almighty @tanyamorganmusic. Music also provided by @djbrainchild, @myles.henry.tipley, @itssuce, @djcenter and @itsparle. And as you can see, it was a sardine can. Also the only DAF where we screenprinted tees on the premises. All proceeds went to the Alliance for Lupus Research. Big shouts to @meldcole for digging these up for us. Incredible time capsule here.

what i love most about Donuts is that it’s always been a tribal event. from the start, it was me & three friends in my living room, my NYC tribe. George and I were newly dating at DAF 2 (slide 2 we’re wearing matching DAF shirts) and year after year, it’s been the tribe that supported Donuts and became Donuts family. now we’ve got 20 years of a tribe full of friends, DJs, photographers, designers, MCs, hosts, bakers, artists, and venues. a few nonprofits & a wide array of partners, the obvious standout being @buildingbeats., and we’re all so excited to invite you to this space on April 18 for some JOY. some DANCING. some FUN and celebration. all in support of music education for NYC young folks. 💕 this one is going to be really special, y’all. our homie @questlove is returning with a 2-hour set, @djspinna is back, my Haitian princess & Donuts co-founder @djtaranyc and @dj_bles_sed fill out the roster, which means the party WON’T stop until 1AM. i’m also happy to see my illustrations featured in the artwork for the 20th anniversary. i love how the people came out and the little donut details. shoutout to @deephunk for the collaboration on the design. 🍩 Get your tickets at @donutsareforever.

Ticket link via my profile page (linktree) Derreck, Tara, Kristy, and I started this event 20 years ago. We had just started doing parties and this was a learning experience to say the least. We were the main cog in the machine but we didn’t do this by ourselves. We would like to thank everyone that has helped out over the years. Our photographer friends, our DJ friends, our friends who did live art, our friends who ran around with plates of donuts, our friends who helped man the merch booth, our friends who ran around with the donate boxes, our friends who grabbed the mic and asked people to donate, our guest host, the folks at venues who made sure these events ran incident free.
