After nearly 60 years since he set the bar in trophy buckles, Gary Gist still stops by the shop several times a week to make sure your buckles meet his standards.

Life in town can mean big changes for cowboys and ranchers. Not to mention their horses and dogs. As easy as a small places sounds, there’s nothing easy about it.

It has been a while since recording a new podcast episode. Life has been busy and honestly, I just wasn’t feeling the groove of talking into a microphone. But, now it’s time. I have been taking notes and thinking about where to begin. The answer was right in front of me. Adjusting to life off of the ranch and living on the outskirts of town. I started writing down these words back in March and it took me this long to get as far as I did before I felt like I was rambling. @deeyates_ asked me if she could publish what I wrote in her @ropersmagazine. I have been fortunate enough to write my editorials for the magazine for a good while now, I’m grateful.
I appreciate everyone who has listened to the podcast and for the encouraging words to keep recording.
The new episode of There Is Always Soemthing To Chase will be coming soon. Y’all can listen on Spotify, apple and other platforms. #podcast #podcasters #podcastersofinstagram #podcastshow #podcaster

For Cecil Nichol, it looked like showing up every day, loving his family deeply, working with his hands, and never letting age tell him what he could or couldn’t do.

The 1996 Senior Pro World Champion Team Roper passed away December 30, 2025, at 91 years old, in the home he built himself. Even into his nineties, Cecil was still spinning steers, still solving problems, still living by his own rules.

He didn’t believe in “getting old.”
He believed in doing the work.

From the arena to the breakfast table, from raising kids and grandkids to cheering on the 49ers, Cecil lived with class, dignity, and quiet confidence. His Celebration of Life overflowed with generations of people whose lives were better because he was in them.

“Never see another poor day.”
That’s a legacy worth remembering.
