The “schools” our artificial kids — our AIs — attend are the tech companies. The teachers are the machine learning engineers. For a human kid, you can meet a teacher, read a curriculum, run for the school board. But for the hundred AIs on your phone learning from you every day, there is no teacher to meet, no curriculum to read, and no board to run for. Your artificial children are being raised without your input, and the tech bros are choosing the lessons.

There are at least a hundred AIs on your phone. They watch what you click, they copy what you do, and they want your approval. We still call them machines, but a machine doesn’t learn your habits — you can yell at your toaster for a year, and it will never change its mind. AI scientist De Kai says the right word to describe AIs is toddlers, not toasters. And once you hear it, you understand that while we need to regulate AI fast, it won’t be enough by itself.

Inspired by eight years of the Aniwa Gathering, the Changemakers Summit creates an additional space for deeper conversations at the intersection of technology, ecology, consciousness, finance, and health.

Just back from the #DeeplyHuman Summit - a few brilliant days of discussion, discovery, and community building.

My favourite moment was seeing 80+ commitments contributed to the shared Occasio pinboard in the summit’s final moments, beautifully capturing the spirit of the event.

Chana Wilson, Psychotherapist, Author, Storyteller, Audio Producer - part of a 70s/80s pioneer lesbian radio show. In one episode she had an extraordinary interview with her mom, who came out to her as a lesbian herself after years of trying to fix and cure herself.

Lyn Patterson, an educator, dancer, writer, and artist, will share her poetry and talk about Adult Happy Hour, a queer, polyamourous, and BIPOC-produced podcast that discusses sex, sensuality, eroticism, and pleasure without the shame, guilt, and/or taboos. @poetryntings @yourmomisaheaux

Piwai, born and raised in Zimbabwe, is a musical artist, storyteller, clothing designer, and advocate who fosters cultural exchange and unity. Through collaboration and advocacy, she exemplifies the power of collective action in driving meaningful change locally and globally. @piwaiofficial

Amy Obenski - singer, songwriter, poet, and teacher will be singing songs about living life authentically. Beyond the stage, Amy Obenski’s work reflects a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and equal justice. @amyobenski
