On this week challenge on @masterchefngr we got to know the judges better by recreating a meal that they love to cook.
I would say that the challenge was fairly okay but I didn’t quite impress, and it’s like the saxophones just keeps getting louder in this kitchen with each episode, the tension is higher and the game is getting tougher. My dear friend @_fads had to leave the kitchen I would miss her dearly but on the bright side @demii_ak won a trip to South Africa. It is an ironic situation seeing that they are best friends but for me it’s more of a sliver lining.
I’m going to keep trying to impress the judges as I go along I really need a dish of the day win.
You can watch the recap of the show on Wednesdays at 6 pm on Africa Magic Showcase and Thursdays at 12 pm on Africa Magic Family.
Also don’t forget to tune in weekly on Sundays at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family so you don’t get any spoilers. y’all keep rooting for me.

MasterChef Nigeria Episode 1 — The Breakdown

We’ve officially started and I’m actually excited about this season of MasterChef Nigeria.

First off, production 👏🏽
You can already tell the level of thought that has gone into this from the storytelling to the emotional opening with the photographs under the boxes. It set the tone immediately.

Episode 1 gave us exactly what you want from a premiere: home cooks with story, memory and intention behind their food and that’s the right foundation.

Some early standouts for me:
David - the egusi purée with eba and suya? Strong concept, well executed and deserved dish of the day.
Demi - loved the creativity with yam and egg and the story behind it.
Isabella - very warm, very intentional dish

I also like the judging panel but I do understand the conversations around representation. Nigeria has so many incredible female chefs and food voices and it would have been great to see that reflected on the panel as well. That added perspective would have been interesting.

Overall, a strong start to the season and can’t wait to see how it unfolds

What were your standout dishes / observations from Episode 1? Let’s chat 👇
