Are you ready for Christmas?! 🌿✨🌿

I normally start to decorate the house ready for Christmas from the 1st December onwards, but I couldn’t resist hanging my wreath onto the front door today — especially as the sun was shining!

I’m currently enjoying being in the process of making wreath orders. They’re all unique and sustainable, with a few decorative embellishments... the majority collected from my own home grown materials! 🌿💚🌿

This morning on my way to the greenhouse I came across a baby bunny! Thankfully we managed to catch it and remove it before the dogs became aware of the intruder!! 😅

As we passed the honesty hut, we explained they were not to come calling! *nibble nibble* 🌿

They were safely released and are now bouncing around the field opposite!

I’ve started making Sourdough. This is partly because I haven’t managed to find a secret safe, mystery tunnel, or treasure haul. Apologies to anyone tuning in for a revelation, but today’s treasure is just a amateur attempt to create some basic fermentation.

It’s been a bit bonkers on renovating_thepines this last few days as over a thousand new followers seem to have found me. I thought initially that it was through the big feature in The Telegraph (well you would, wouldn’t you?) but it turns out it’s because I made a reel about finding a bizarre key in a mystery carpet circle. If you’ve just joined me, from either The Telegraph or The Mystery Circle, welcome. I am slightly concerned people might be disappointed that my sleuthing might be overtaken by my garden obsession and that fact that I’m generally to be found planting stuff and occasionally painting walls. I’m diversifying here with the sourdough. Let’s see how it goes. Hopefully it’ll work as I have bought all the kit in anticipation of this being a raging success.

Highly recommend @elaine_foodbod as she actually knows what she’s doing and I bought her brilliant book which I’m following. Also @denise.allan who has inspired me to get going with this. I’ll keep you updated on Key and Fermentation in Stories. For newcomers, welcome to my world, where I start new projects with excess enthusiasm and then panic.

I just got this beautiful artwork from my good friend @denise.allan . Denise is the most amazing person I know. I told her that I am really anxious and worried that I, as a risk patient, have to let people such as prisoners and athletes go before the risk patients for the COVID vaccin. It is hard to hear that everyone in the government is putting their ‘customers’ in front of the list. We are getting surpassed on the left and on the right and the original vaccination strategy is thrown in the garbage bin. Denise send her own artwork to make me feel better! I have such great friends and that cannot be paid for in gold or diamonds❤️! Denise, it helps!! Thank you 🤗🥰! #bestfriends #support

🎶Oh, I get by with a little help from my Ecofans 🎶

Did you know that Ecofans circulate warm air throughout the house 38% faster, enhancing heat distribution and minimizing cold corners?

Ecofans use thermoelectric technology to convert a temperature difference into electricity. The base of the Ecofan collects heat from the top of the wood stove, while the fins at the top of the Ecofan, or heat sink, maintain a cool temperature by drawing in cooler air from behind your stove.

That is why we recommend placing your Ecofan at the back edge of your stove away from the chimney pipe whenever possible to optimize performance. ❤️

Apologies for the late arrival of #montydonmonday today. I got over excited looking at the geographical spread of entries and the huge surge of male entrants. 😉
No man has ever won #montydonmonday. A dog once won, but never an actual man.
So come on guys. There’s a hip young dude from Amritsar who entered this week, but he omitted to include any actual flowers or veg, or even a garden 🤔.
He did have a nice hat though (see Stories).

So this week’s winner is @fionacumberpatch (swipe) because her entry summed up this time of year and our thoughts in general. Fiona has been collecting and storing seeds ready for a wonderful show in 2021. We’re all hoping for something wonderful in 2021. A vaccine, a fairer society, Dominic Cummings actually showing us his dahlias, Monty Don to replace Boris at number 10 🤷‍♀️

Do you remember that song, “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” by U2? Well, today David has been stomping around the garden muttering “Monty, Bloody Monday”....😬

It seems I’ve been spending too much time faffing on my phone, sorting prizes, judging entries and ‘wrestling’ with the ‘panel of experts’.😬
So, for that reason, we will be taking a two week break and returning on Monday 24 August. Keep entering everyone, ‘normal’ service will resume later.

Anyway, this week we are off to Welsh Wales with our winner, @mrsbee123
