Did you know that the Phoenix Tap Fest began in 2013? Originally called “Just West of Broadway” and incorporated not only tap dancing but all aspects of the performing arts. Over the years, we have offered over 1,000 classes and had around 40-45 faculty members come through! A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of our events over the years! 2027 schedule and announcements on their way!! Stay tuned!! #phoenixtapfest #tapdance #justwestofbroadway #tapfestival

Happy Monday. This morning, I want to talk about organizing and producing tap dance festivals in this #MondayDiscussion. I have seen a multitude of tap festivals created and thrive over the last several years. Boston. New York (@thebigappletapfestival). Los Angeles (@latapfest & @hollywoodtapfest). Detroit (@motorcitytapfest). Phoenix (@phoenixtapfest). North Carolina (@nc_rhythmtapfest). San Francisco (@sanfrantapfest). Dallas (@riffdallas). Toronto (@totapfest). London (@london.tap.dance.festival). Austin, Texas (@aciagray & @tapestrydanceaustin). Orlando (@orlandotapfestival). Stockholm (@stockholmtapfestival). Utah (@utahtap). Little Rock (@littlerocktapfestival). The list goes on. I’ve always wondered how such events endure through difficult times such as these. Three years ago, I was fortunate to have collaborated with my friend Courtney to co-produce the very first @thenashvillerhythmtapfestival, the first of its kind in the Music City. We produced this festival through my production project, @faithfulrhythmproductions. We had our sights set on this being an annual thing, but — full disclosure — financial constraints have caused the festival to be put on hold for the foreseeable future. The festival was a goal and a dream of mine, and to see it happen, to bring so many hungry and passionate tap dancers from all over to Nashville that summer three years ago was an amazing feeling. I’m sad to say that that dream has become a bit of a nightmare. But I won’t bore any of you with that sob story any longer. 💜 This question is directed towards those who have organized and produced tap festivals in all parts of the world. May I ask, what did you do, how did you do it, what challenges and/or constraints did you face, and how have you been able to overcome it? #TapFestivals #tapcommunity #tapdance #tapdancers @operationtap

This is the best piece of thanksgiving I have ever created yet. ✍🏾📍 In less than 30 minutes I had the rough draft COMPLETED, when I’ve spent hours, days, months, and years overwhelmed for what I’ve always been able to do through God being my strength. My first time ever putting on tap shoes, and God’s peace engulfed me. I’ve known for a long time now that tap is a piece to my calling, to fighting, to expressing, to sharing, to loving freely ;) I thank God for the opportunity to just be all He created me to be in-spite of all, especially myself. Day 1 of The Absolute Beginner Tap Series at Tap Dance Detroit (@tapdancedetroit) w/ THEE Denise Caston-Clark ;) 5 more days to go, and I ain’t rushing nuffin’ because this is only the beginning, and behold, I SEE IT 😋 🎥Videographed+Edited by Shani Userkaf (Significance of Breath - sobreath.com) 🖤Gimbal: @hohem_global iSteady V3 Ultra-that's why I was doing "👌🏾." It was to trigger the AI tracking 😋 Glory to God. I have this on loop. CAUSE THE WAY GOD HAD ME SYNC THIS PLEASEEE 😝🤸🏾‍♀️🖤🤍 VID: This black and white, old-timey styled video showcases Shani Userkaf as she prepares and journeys through her very first tap class. From walking in the door, preparing her socks, staying hydrated, grabbing tap shoes, putting on the tap shoes, placing her things in the cubbys, and onward as she learns a plethora of tap steps with many other individuals. Cursive white text, mainly staying centered, outlined and shadowed in black, expresses the lyrics to “Doctor Jazz” by Gregory Hines. At the top, “🎶(New Orleans styled jazz orchestration consisting of trumpet (brass), piano, woodwind, bass, and drums. Invigorating and very broadway with tap infused solos)🎶” sits at top with “🎶(Tap solo)🎶” underneath, which comes in and fades out during the tap solo in the song. The video ends with a selfie of Shani and Denise. Significance of Breath's logo rests at the bottom right corner with a blended effect which changes from scarlet to black depending on the lighting. This video is uplifting and of course, full of JOY. #dancer #tapdancer #jazz #model #production
