THE HMAS ARE OCT 24TH! 🏆 @hmaawards
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I was called to come home. ❤️

I didn’t understand it then, but I do now.

Earlier this year, life brought me back to Youngstown in ways I hadn’t anticipated. What I thought was a temporary pause became a season of rediscovery, restoration, and remembrance.

Coming home gave me precious moments with my grandfather before his passing, an opportunity to preserve my family’s legacy, a return to the stage, and now, the incredible honor of receiving the CREATIVE CULTURE VANGUARD AWARD from the Hyer Merit Association. 🏆

At the beginning of 2026, I placed an Oscar on my vision board. And while this beautiful golden statue, sculpted in the image of a Black woman, isn’t an Oscar, I can’t help but smile at the poetry of it all. A reminder that sometimes our dreams begin revealing themselves in ways we could never have imagined.

Since being home, people have asked me why I would ever come back to Youngstown.

To be honest, those questions triggered an old wound.

Growing up, this city felt like a place I needed to escape. It was a part of my story that held so much trauma and pain that, for years, I could only return in short doses. Nonetheless, I’ve carried Youngstown with me into every room, onto every stage, and across every set, proud of the warrior it helped shape me into.

Now I’m realizing that coming home was never a step backward. It was a return to myself.

To the dreamers from places the world often overlooks: never let anyone convince you that where you come from determines how far you can go. We are resilient, hardworking, and exactly who we believe ourselves to be.

Thank you to the Most High God for covering and carrying me, even when I couldn’t see the road ahead. Thank you to my family and loved ones for your unwavering love and belief in me. And thank you to the Hyer Merit Association for seeing me and honoring my journey.

To my city, this one’s for us.

I was called home. And I answered. ❤️🏆

Your 2026 @hmaawards Extraordinary Cultural Achievement Award recipient! 🏆

This award recognizes contributions to storytelling, creativity, and work that adds something meaningful to the culture.

I’m incredibly honored and grateful to the HMAs and my guy @deonthegreatt for this recognition. More than anything, I’m thankful that the work I’ve been doing on social media and in the community is resonating with so many people and making a meaningful impact!

There’s still so much more to do, so many stories to tell, and so many lives I hope to impact. I’m still figuring out this whole journey of becoming a talk show host, but moments like this remind me that I’m building something meaningful and headed in the right direction!!

To everyone who’s been part of this journey, no matter when you found me or how you got here, THANK YOU! Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just discovered my work yesterday, I hope you know how much your support, encouragement, and belief in the vision mean to me!!

And y’all, I’m claiming it NOW: 2027 is my breakout year!!! STAMP IT (and hold me to it)!!! 🖤🤞🏽
