🎬 Behind the scenes of fascia work magic ✨

Alex sits down with structural integration expert Anders Totten to uncover the mysteries of our body's connective tissue web. From touching actual anatomy trains in cadaver labs to understanding how fascia holds emotional memories, this conversation will shift how you see bodywork forever.

Anders shares his journey from massage school to becoming a master of Tom Myers' Anatomy Trains approach - and the mystical experiences that happened along the way (including what it feels like to hold different human organs 🤯).

If you've ever wondered how your emotional trauma gets stored in your body's tissues, this episode reveals the fascinating science behind fascial healing and why your nervous system responds so powerfully to this work.

In mid-April I participated in my 3rd 5-day in person cadaver dissection lab with @anatomytrainsofficial, and then a week later I flew back out to Boulder for my first paid opportunity as a teacher and laboratory assistant for a 4-day dissection with @yoga_medicine

Getting to lead my own dissection table of 10 students + teach human anatomy in such an intimate, intensive, unique way has been a major career goal of mine since day 1 of my very first dissection. I absolutely cannot wait for more opportunities to study + teach in the lab 🥹

Getting to work with @tiffanycruikshank’s advanced level students was such a joy, especially since Yoga Medicine is a school I respect as a certified yoga instructor + movement teacher myself 🧘🏼‍♀️

I know I don’t post much these days, but it’s because life is just so full and so juicy and I’m just so grateful to be along for this wild ride 🤸🏼‍♀️✨

I attended the 6th International Fascia Research Congress in Montreal last month and I was lucky enough to get to connect + nerd out + catch up with some of my very favorite colleagues, teachers, and friends while I was there 💛

I learned a TON, met some incredible humans, and came home feeling even more inspired and hopeful and excited for my field as a whole + for my personal work in manual therapy and beyond.

The world of Fascial research is rapidly growing, with implications that touch in to every aspect of the fields of medicine, manual therapy, movement science, and so much more.

As research continues and understanding grows we will see fascial knowledge become embedded + interwoven into modern medical paradigms at an increasing rate, which will inevitably positively impact manual therapy curriculums as well - meaning that the more we seek to study + learn + understand + apply NOW the more people we collectively can help live healthier, more pain free, fully embodied lives in the future - long term.

This field is so freaking cool!! I’m endlessly grateful to have found something I love so deeply + to get to call that work my career 🫶🏽
