THIS MONTH! Music Against the Machine is just a few weeks away! We’ve got SIX shows for you, which means six opportunities to support both local artists and the fight against data centers. We’ll have vendors, community orgs, and local food (including @chinesechorizoproject). Tickets are at the door, by a suggested donation of $10-$20, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Half of the money raised will go to the performers, and half will go to NDDCC to support the struggle. We can’t wait to see you there!

Last week when Violoneux played in Santa Fe, I got to hear Johnny Bell play live & it was such a beautiful set. I’ve been listening to his Field Trips cassette ever since I got back.
We’re all playing together again tonight at @wavearchive …I highly recommend coming to experience Johnny’s set for yourself. I’ll be performing alongside some of my favorite folks to play with: Chelsey Lee Trejo, Grant Beyschau, and Karima Walker 😊

We’ll regale you with hurdy-gurdy, hammer dulcimer, tape loops, synthesizers, and drums.

Thursday at Wave. All ages. Doors at 7 p.m. $12.

Devin Gray is a drummer, composer, and bandleader known for his innovative contributions to contemporary jazz. Since relocating to New York in 2006 he has collaborated with David Liebman, Tony Malaby, Nate Wooley, Tim Berne, and Sylvie Courvoisier; he now divides his time between Brooklyn and Berlin.
His records as a leader run from “Dirigo Rataplan” (2012) through “Melt All the Guns” (2021) with Ralph Alessi and Angelica Sanchez, the Gerald Cleaver duet “27 Licks” (2022), and “Most Definitely” (2023), his first solo drum recording. Complex and intimate; a relentless pursuit of quality and sincerity.

Hello again, friends around the country! This is close to the final itinerary for the tour. Notice the addition of NYC at the front end. I’m getting really excited to come play this music for you, and to see everybody and go everywhere.
