@SceneHome X @Cairo.Design.Week: This year, Flower Bar approached Cairo Design Week with adding on the botanical layer, creating concept-specific greenery across Zamalek, Downtown, and Heliopolis.

Each composition responded to the architecture and atmosphere of its host location, blending landscaping and set design to complement the curator’s and designers ideas and visions.
Founded by Khaled El Wakil, Flower Bar works with both natural and artificial plants and trees, positioning its practice at the intersection of events, interiors, and nature.

Across the festival, they activated key venues, including 'Intertwined Botanica' at Aisha Fahmy Palace in collaboration with Design Avenue, the greenery for 'Aicha’s Table' by Reem Abou El Makarem and Phlog’s Photography Exhbition, the botanical settings for 'Samiha Kamel’s Gathering Salon' by Else Lab, Marmonil, and Mazloum Garden at the Greater Cairo Library, as well as installations at Tamara Haus in Downtown like 'Al Hadra' exhibition by Design Point's Karim El Hayawan and Nehal Leheta and Ghurnata in Heliopolis.

El Wakil describes the process as painting: “The concept is set, but the composition forms in the moment.”
Each intervention was tailored to its space. At Aisha Fahmy Palace, roses, moss, ferns and foliage were arranged to harmonize with ceilings, colors, and proportions. At the Greater Cairo Library, planting defined circulation and gathering zones while supporting curatorial layouts. Over three years at Cairo Design Week, Flower Bar has expanded its role, increasing the variety of its interventions and contributing to the art, design, and subtle details that shape each space.

Cairo Design Week runs between November 20th and 29th. For more design and architecture stories, head to www.scenehome.com (link in bio) or download the #SceneNOW app, available on iOS and Android.

✨ Carpetopia at Cairo Design Week ✨

On Saturday, November 22nd, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of Cairo Design Week at the beautiful Tamara Haus in downtown Cairo — a vibrant gathering of creativity and vision.

It was a night of inspiring encounters: brilliant product designers, interior creators, and artistic souls sharing ideas, trends, and possibilities. Every handshake felt like the beginning of a new thread, every conversation a spark for future collaborations.

At Carpetopia, we believe that art grows through connection — through minds meeting, stories shared, and craft celebrated. This evening was a reminder that design is a collective tapestry, woven by many hands.

Here’s to new partnerships, new horizons, and new stories waiting to unfold.

@SceneHome X @Cairo.Design.Week: A confession booth, hand painted sneakers, and a HiFi listening experience were just three of the dozens of installations that Tamara Haus showcased for their Cairo Design Week opening. SceneHome spoke with some of the designers who brought their visions to life in the halls of this renovated downtown mansion - which was bustling with artists, art lovers and fabulous outfits. Everyone is bringing their a-game this week.

Tamara Haus, along with the other Downtown, Zamalek, and Heliopolis exhibitions, will be open to the public until November 29th for Cairo Design Week. For more design and architecture stories, head to www.scenehome.com (link in bio) or download the #SceneNOW app, available on iOS and Android.

@SceneTraveller: There is a particular kind of rhythm to the Nile, a soft whispering of ancient stories through the timeless ebb of its waters, a deep humming that settles into your chest, as if the river is reminding you—gently but firmly—that it was here long before you, and it will be here long after.

And somewhere between Luxor and Aswan, where time seems to melt into those very same magical waters, two sister Dahabeyas—Sia and Seba—leisurely drift past lush banana groves and towering ancient temples, sailing in the company of the Pharaohs and carving out their own place in a river that has seen civilizations rise and fall.

Owned and run by three generations of the El Wassif family, Sia and Seba—collectively known as Mazaj Dahabeyas—are more than mere sailboats. They are living embodiments of the Nile’s past and present, reflections of history, and messengers of love letters to Egypt, hand-delivered on the wind.
