POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last weekend we had the opportunity to curate for a Art Auction 🎨 with @levelupbizsum who chose Charlotte, NC as their city for the Business Summit for this year!

The work they do is so important in working to raise money for their partnership organization in Accra, Ghana

They worked with Ghanaian Artist, John Ampao, and wanted to include local Black Artists as well, and we know the city is full of talent!

We enjoyed being a part and meeting members coming from Ghana for the event!

Thank you to the artists, their work was so great, give them a follow!

Still thinking about Thursday night’s Supernatural exhibition at Connect Labs 🔬

There was SO much incredible work in this show! Huge, striking pieces, artists whose work I’ve admired on Instagram and finally got to experience in person ❤️‍🔥

Kicking off the night with the artist meet & greet before the exhibition opened created a chance to meet so many wonderful artists and then hear them talk about their work. This made the whole night feel that much more special 💕🔥

But one of my favorite details was the thoughtfulness behind the curation. @Crane.Seven brought pieces together in a way that made each section feel like its own conversation. We weren’t just moving from artwork to artwork; rather, we were piecing together little stories, connections, and ideas as we moved through the space. I absolutely loved experiencing the show that way. And in a corporate space no less! This is what bringing art into commercial spaces could be like 🤩 I hope more follow your example!

Such a beautiful reminder that art is about more than the work itself. It’s also about the people, the stories, and the community surrounding it ❤️

Despite getting snowed in, I had a blast traveling to Fayetteville, NC to attend the opening for Kindred Vision at @artscouncilfay curated by @antoinneduanejones ✨. I med some incredible artists and viewed some work that is truely out of this world. I’m so happy my baby, Celestial Harvest, could be part of this beautiful exhibition and have family here to support me! #collage #collageart #kindredvisions #afrofuturism #fayetteville

Been taking much needed time to rest, rejuvenate and think about my creative practice. How I want to feel and how I want others to feel while viewing my work. Everyday for the past couple months I have added something to this piece. More recently started adding daily affirmations. Each color and symbol represents how I was feeling at the time I created it and tells the overall story of Life.

Have some announcements for the New Year coming soon!

Core Belief Mandala: a therapeutic art activity that can help increase your understanding of self beliefs and how they impact your self esteem, motivation, behavior and relationships.

Core beliefs can be negative or positive and can sound like “I’m not good enough, I’m a burden or I am loved.”

When therapeutic art making we want to focus on the process and emotions and not how the art looks in the end. It is encouraged to get messy, color outside the lines and meditate along with the piece.

All the activities posted here you can use any materials available to you.

Materials in video:

Oil and Acrylic Paper
Acrylic paint
Paint brushes
Oil pastels
Sharpie Marker

A look inside of my sketchbook of recent therapeutic art prompts. On this page you will see me use the terms “therapeutic art” and not art therapy. Because I am NOT an art therapist. My state does not recognize the profession unfortunately.

First art prompt tomorrow!

Hiiii everyone! Welcome to the new and improved healingthroughart community and platform. My name is Destiny Blue. I am an artist and therapist. For the past 10 years I have been continuing my education and gaining work experience as a social worker. For the past 4 years, as a clinical social worker assisting children, teens and families on the path to overall wellness.

Through this platform I will share therapeutic art prompts, host events and workshops for those looking to add therapeutic art to their coping tool box.

Personally, creating and making art has been one of the biggest ways that I have processed hard emotions, healed through different seasons and challenges in life. I hope to share what I’ve gained, connect with you, and be a service to you on your healing journey.

Gratitude to you for being here. More to come. Love y’all!
