Reflecting on a lovely weekend trip to SoCal this fall. I saw an amazing exhibition at @psartmuseum, A Queer Arcana. It was absolutely magical to see one of my favorite pieces by my friend @edgarfabianfrias 🙌🏼 and so many other great artists. I also enjoyed the new wing at @lacma, and @robynkonichiwa!! Twice in one year?? Counting my blessings.

Coming up: For this year’s New York Art Fair Week, amika (@amika) presents “Crowns in Bloom: Celebrating Hair in Contemporary Art,” an exhibition curated by Auttrianna Ward (@auttriannaward) that brings together an intergenerational group of contemporary artists exploring hair as one of the body’s most culturally and politically charged forms. Across painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and film, the exhibition considers hair as material, metaphor, and cultural archive—revealing how something profoundly intimate can also shape broader conversations around identity, beauty, race, gender, power, and belonging.

Featuring Merryn Omotayo Alaka and Sam Frésquez, Hiva Alizadeh, Hidemi Takagi Bastien, Sanié Bokhari, Debra Cartwright, Geoffrey Chadsey, Faith Couch, Akinola Davies Jr. and Cyndia Harvey, Torkwase Dyson, Vernon François, Thalía Gochez, Grace Lynne Haynes, Jarrett Key, Clinton King, Emily Manwaring, Joiri Minaya, Chinaedu Nwadibia, Chelsea Odufu, Onajevwe, Andina Marie Osorio, Na’ye Perez, Devan Shimoyama, Malick Sidibé, Mickalene Thomas, Deborah Willis, Jayoung Yoon, and more!
