Tropesick by Lauren Okie : A Book Review 📃💕

this book really took me for quite the rollercoaster ride! at first i had mixed feelings, but as the story unfolded i was invested. the writing really kept me wanting more, i felt deeply for these characters, and couldn’t put this book down!

GetToKnowMeThursday 💛

🍋 Do you like knowing if a book has a happy ending before reading it?
~ oh Yes!! I know it’s bad but I don’t have the patience to wait till the end before knowing if a book or a movie is happy / sad / cliffhanger ending.

🍋 What is a book you liked more than you were expecting?
~ One Dark Window

🍋 What book on your TBR that you keep putting off?
~ Tessa Bailey’s books. I read 1 out of 7 of her books that I have on my shelf, and i didn’t really enjoy it. So I’ve been putting off reading the rest.

🍋 What bookish icks that you have in terms of tropes?
~ I don’t usually enjoy second chance trope, surprise pregnancy, she falls first, and extreme age gap.

❓What’s your bookish icks?❓

Tagging some of you so I can get to know you more.
Tagging everyone who reads this and feels like sharing too.

how much do i read in a week: after being in a three month long reading slump edition☀️

i’m finally out of the woods!! but it’s been fun rediscovering some of my favorite things, including watching shows/movies, writing, and singing/playing the keyboard🥰

#books #book #bookstagram #whatireadinaweek #bookstagrammer

the first two days of the week i locked in to finish never over by Clare Gilmore.

i really enjoyed this book, i loved the setting of this book where they’re on tour and writing songs. Paige’s friendship with the side characters were so heartwarming to read as well as her’s and Liam’s. the dual timeline was another thing i appreciated in this book.

my only stumble was that i didn’t connect as much as i usually do with the main characters. but nevertheless, it was an enjoyable fun summer read💕

#bookaholic #booksofinsta #currentreads #reading #currentread

then, i started sounds like love by Ashley Poston. this book i picked up on my birthday, and it exceeded my expectations. i really loved this one!

i also have been dreaming of this coffee order from harlan+holden — their butterscotch latte😚 the foam is absolute perfection, and i love especially how balanced the coffee tastes after asking for a single shot instead of double.

#novel #fiction #coffee #coffeeoftheday #coffeeandbooks

on the weekend, i finished sounds like love — i absolutely devoured it on saturday 🤭 you can tell how much i love a book once i start reading hundreds of pages within a single day!

i ended up rating it a 4.75⭐️ how i connected to Joni was something i felt so deeply, and towards the end i even cried a bit🥹 my favorite thing about this isn’t necessarily the romance, but more on the message of how music keeps the memory of something we love alive even after it passes 🫶🏻

afterwards, i decided to continue reading and now back to you by B.K. Borison, while i’m also rereading a book in between.

overall, this has been a productive week reading wise!

i have left the idea of needing to read faster or needing to read all the time, and decided to make room for other things that fills my soul too!

and turns out it actually has served me better than i expected. maybe a cha

2026 is the year we tackle our TBR!📚✨

earlier this year i decided to make this TBR system in hopes to minimize my physical TBR and help my choose books i truly want to read!

if you’re someone who also wants to tackle their physical TBR and buy books with intention to actually read them, follow along @natashastbr , and we’ll do it together!📖🩷

entering chapter 2 🪽💘

this month i am working on being patient and gracious to myself and not crash out when things don’t go as i plan. at the end of the day, what is meant to be will be and God’s got me for sure 💞

i’m also reinforcing my system of only buying one physical book per month, and i’m only allowed to buy it in three conditions:
(1) i’m reading the new book in a month or two, (2) i finish my one reread otm (but i’ll try rereading two), and (3) i finish my one read from my physical tbr. this way i’ll minimize my physical tbr and potentially enjoy them more ✨

my ultimate goal this year in all aspects is to be more intentional, and although it isn’t always successful, it is a work in progress, and hopefully will become second nature to be intentional in everything🧭

so, what’s on your february tbr? any reads or new releases your excited for?
