Talking filmmaking, production roles, animation skills, VFX training, logistics, script writing, pyrotechnics, camera gear, story telling and so much more at Film Devon's Reel Skills 2026 this week 🎬

Screen industry professionals from across the South West brought their expertise, demos and career stories to North Devon College to talk with 400 local students about career ambitions and interests, and to share their insights on working on productions including Harry Potter, Star Wars, Deadpool vs Wolverine, Aquaman 2, the BBC's BAFTA-winning Blue Planet II, James Bond, The Witcher and many more.

Speakers also gave tips on finding your passion, landing your first job, and they shared some of the work they are all involved with to bring more productions and projects to the South West - and to create more opportunities for young people that live here and want to work in the creative industries 💚

Yesterday, K9 Commando Film & TV was proud to be part of a fantastic day at North Devon College, hosted by Film Devon and bringing together a brilliant mix of film, TV, and creative industry professionals from across the region.

With around 400 students attending throughout the day, the event was all about opening their eyes to the huge variety of careers and opportunities within the screen industries — from cameras, lighting, and VFX to producing, directing, locations, animation, and of course, working with animals.

We were also thrilled to be surrounded by so many talented companies, crew, and creatives who are helping build and grow the screen industry here in Devon. There is a huge amount of talent and experience across the South West, and events like this are a brilliant way of connecting that industry with the next generation.

A massive thank you to Film Devon for bringing everyone together and to all the other professionals who gave their time to share their knowledge and experience.
