I’ve been going to Venice since I was at art school and not missed a biennale yet. This year, I really had to think about it. I started writing a post about why I almost didn’t go, and why I’m glad I did, and it turned into a 3000 word essay about my experience, conflicting thoughts and eventual resolution, with some actual art and criticism, just for my own peace of mind and anyone else that gives a f.

TLDR - I conclude art and its ecosystem is worthwhile, even - and perhaps especially - during war, genocide, the rise of the right (in real time the rise of Reform UK) even if art, artists and curators falter against the no-longer-dystopian but materially here transition from liberal democratics into openly fascist and necrocapitalist projects.

We met a guy one night who said he hadn’t been to Europe in ages, when asked why he said “It’s not really relevant. I’m gonna be honest I don’t think you guys are gonna make it”.

Give me another day to sleep off the Spritz and make sure I’m forming full sentences and then I’ll drop my words here.

In the mean time, here’s just some holiday snaps of people I was grateful to spend time with ❤️

The art of gathering.

Last night, The Wick welcomed cultural leaders, creatives and changemakers for its annual Monday Muse dinner, hosted at The Chancery Rosewood. With welcome drinks supported by Berry Bros. & Rudd.

The Monday Muse initiative celebrates female cultural and business leaders, changemakers and future thinkers. This year’s dinner, shaped around the theme Constellation, considered the networks, alliances and support systems that help culture flourish, and brought together an extraordinary group of women all paving the way across the cultural and creative industries.

The Wick is a hub and platform dedicated to connecting the culturally curious and opening up the art world, highlighting expert perspectives and dynamic new talent. Creating unparalleled connections and unrepeatable experiences. The Wick fuses the art and business worlds; culturally inspired content, artistic talent curation and art collection sourcing.

Bold before it was trendy, fearless before it was accepted. Shabana Azmi redefined women on screen through powerful films like “Arth” (1982), “Mandi” (1983), and “Fire” (1996) #Trailblazer. From vulnerability to rebellion, her roles explored identity, desire, and independence #WomenInCinema A true pioneer of bold, socially conscious storytelling.

Culture doesn’t shift by accident. It takes time, vision, courage and leadership.

In the latest issue of ELLE UK, @devyanisaltzman is recognised as one of the women redefining the cultural landscape in Britain today. As Director for Arts & Participation at the @barbicancentre , Devyani champions culture as civic space and is helping reframe what a major institution can be, operating at the intersection of film, theatre, music and ideas.

To be named among ELLE UK’s culture shifters is a testament to the exciting work that she is doing at the Barbican, and beyond.

We’re proud to support voices like Devyani’s, and to celebrate all the women shifting the dial on culture, one bold idea at a time. Thank you @lenadecasparis ✍️

Looking back at 2025, the word that sums it up is BIG. We went big this year! We’re proud of the artists, leaders, institutions, and organizations we’ve been lucky to champion in 2025.

They are true pioneers who have set the cultural agenda for the year and enabled us to fulfill our mission: to work with the people, places, and ideas that drive culture forward. Here are a selection of our 2025 highlights.
