Can you believe my first ever novel (yes, the one I’ve been working on since 2021!) comes out in 3 days?? 💗 FINAL WEEK to experience my solo exhibition, “Wanting, Having, Losing, Finding” @heretosunday 💗 The past few weeks have been a wild whirlwind, filling me with a wide range of emotions, and this show has meant a lot to me in many ways. I set out to create this exhibition to embrace the full spectrum of the process — both the positive and the challenging — and I’ve learned so much along the way. I'm truly grateful to those who support my work and visited during the gallery opening and walkthrough (special thanks to @arthagnyc & @takingupspacenyc). Thank you for sharing this milestone with me in the summer of 2026.

📚: It's the last week of summer for us..& yet we're going to keep on with #spookymgbooks! I'm finishing up The Strange Disappearance Of Imogen Good & my next read may possibly be Bad Things Happened Here written by @monizahossain. I love love love a good haunted house story & this one takes place in Singapore.

👻 SYNOPSIS 👻

Lonely twelve-year-old Sam Wells has never known his mother. So when his maternal grandmother calls with a plane ticket to Singapore, he hopes the trip will give him the answers he’s been looking for. But his imposing family home isn’t what he expected. His grandmother is a stranger. Spiders crawl over impassible mounds of hoarded mementos. The house is such a labyrinth that Sam can barely make his way through the boxes, let alone find out anything about his mom.

Until he meets her ghost, frozen in time at age twelve.

Something terrible happened when Priya Malhotra was just a schoolgirl in Singapore. Something twisted enough to keep her trapped. Something that might be happening again. Children are going missing as they did decades before in Sam’s eerily unsettling neighborhood . . . and the closer Sam gets to the terrifying truth that lurks within the haunted, abandoned factory where the original crimes occurred, the more it seems that Sam will be the next to disappear.

To save himself, he’ll have to untangle the mystery. But if he does, will he lose his mom forever?

We had so much fun chatting about the truly wild story behind how my sister ended up illustrating the cover of my debut novel. Sam doesn’t remember much about his mom, who died when he was young. So when he’s gifted a plane ticket to visit his grandma in Singapore—at his mom’s childhood home—he jumps at what he imagines will be the perfect summer break.

Instead, Sam arrives to find a derelict hoarder house in a shadowy neighborhood haunted by a dark, secret history. All Sam wanted was to get to know his mom . . . but when he comes face-to-face with her ghost, stuck in time at age twelve, he realizes that something has gone terribly wrong.

Priya Malhotra is nothing like the mother he’d imagined. She’s got skinned knees and a sharp tongue, and she won’t let him call her “Mom.” But she does need his help: a young girl’s vengeful spirit is keeping her trapped. What does Priya have to do with the girl’s tragic death? Can Sam really untangle a decades-old mystery—even if it means losing his mom forever?

And if Sam gets too close to the answers . . . will he be the next to disappear?
