This winter, we set out to create something new at Aspiring Guides: a season of mountain experiences dedicated to women. The idea was simple. Bring women of different levels together and foster a supportive environment with knowledgable female guides at the helm.

We’re so incredibly proud to celebrate the epic success to the first season of our Women's Series and want to send a special thanks to our supporting partners @thenorthface_aunz & @thebreatheffect and most importantly our incredible team of guides who made this series possible: @bronwen_ski_guide , @wild_for_flowers, @laetitiacampe, @sheclimbs.skis, and @katerina.maceskova1.

@studio_one_yoga took their community all the way to new zealand for a yoga retreat where every day had a little bit of everything: flow, adventure, stillness, and a view that made everyone put their phones down (then pick them right back up for a photo LOL 📸)

She’ll be right 2026.

A few years ago I got a job at Treble Cone and it was my first time setting foot on a ski field. I learnt to snowboard then quickly realised I really liked shooting on snow too, and the past few years I’ve been trying to improve my snowboarding, and get into shooting snow sports. I only wish I knew about this event sooner as up until last year I didn’t know a community like this existed. So many talented and inspiring women who are snowboarders, skiers, filmers and photographers all in one place, it’s so damn cool to see.

I still feel a bit out of my depth with snow sports, but I’m so grateful for events like this that welcome you into the industry with open arms and faces full of glitter.

Thank you so much @sbr.aotearoa , @cayleyalger you’re an absolute legend. I can’t wait for next year.

October is here! And there's plenty going on. Here's where you can find us this month:⁠

💧Wednesday 14: Microplastic Lab (2-3pm). Get hands-on with citizen science and discover what we're learning about microplastics in local waterways.⁠

💧Thursday 22: Beach clean-up, Wānaka Lakefront (10am - 11.30am). Help protect the lake we love while contributing to Aotearoa's Litter Intelligence programme. Shout out to @thesaunawanaka for kindly donating vouchers as giveaways and @bigfigwanaka for the delicious kai.

💧Thursday 29: Better Building Day, @wao_aotearoa Summit. Join us at the Better Building Breakfast and Trade Show at 7.30am. Come and chat with us to about freshwater, community action and creating a more resilient future.⁠

💧We'll also be at the Better Building Tour (1pm to 5pm). Join WAI and Reset Urban Design as the tour visits Bremner Bay and Kirimoko. Together, we'll explore water and catchment thinking, and how the ways we design, build and live shape the health of our waterways and communities. WAI will share local research on stormwater and its impacts on water quality. Discover how thoughtful urban design can help create healthier waterways, communities and ecosystems.⁠

Wānaka Pride events are back this September. Bingo, drag and dancefloors await. 🏳️‍🌈

Kick things off at Lake Wānaka Centre on 11 September with Bingo, Darling!, a night of drag, bingo and big laughs. Expect fierce performances, prizes up for grabs, and a room full of people shouting BINGO, DARLING!

Then on Saturday night (12 September), Pride After Dark takes over with DJs, drag, burlesque, pole and gogo under the blacklights. Dress to glow, come ready to dance, and expect a few surprises the lineup isn't giving up just yet.

Absolutely stoked to be part of @aotearoastoneskimmingchamps history. The legend @abbeywoohoo has just been crowned world champ at the international stone skimming champs in Scotland with a record throw (she beat the boys) 🤘🏼
