A month ago we all wiped our tears of heartbreak, got dressed in our fun fabulous clothes & put on the biggest smiles we could try to muster for you @carmenross88 and your beloved @dhfabs
❤️⚡️❤️

We gathered at yours & Danny’s beloved #loudounhouse home of @lexingtonartleague which @celeryjones @dhfabs & your friends & family turned into a beautiful shrine of #love that encapsulated your beloved possessions & gave home to the people you love for the night of bittersweet sorrow when we offered our prayers, love & devotion to carrying Carmen into the Heavenly Eternal Realms of this #universe . The only consolation was that we were all grieving your passing together so hugs & tears were abundant.

I think I speak for all of us: “Danny & Carmen, we’re in luv with you, more than summers & afternoons.” #carmenrosshaddadrip 🙏❤️🙏 #dannyandcarmenforever ❤️⚡️❤️

“The thing I hate about life is that we only have 24 hours in a day - that’s it!! All the dreams we have, all the things we want to do, accomplish, make, create can only be done within 24 hours at a time. All the people we want to see, talk to, be with, hug, kiss, tell them ‘I love you!’ can only be done within a 24 hr day. Then 8 hours of that day is sleeping & taking care of ourself; another 8 hours is working - so that’s 16 of 24 hours doing the logistics of daily life so you really only have 8 hours if you’re lucky to spend it with people you love & care about - then maybe hope to eventually catch up with your amazing friends, maybe give them a call or even a visit to see their big beautiful smile & hear their voice & be in their presence just one more time ….. and sometimes that one more time just doesn’t come. And I’m so sorry that happens but please don’t live your life in regret, your amazing loved ones like @carmenross88 know #weonlyhave24hoursinaday “ ~ JoanneHope

This party makes me feel like I’m already with her. I really loved how they pull this off and I absolutely loved the activities! I am also so thankful that I got to meet everyone she knows/is related too! I’m inspired by her love of reading, energy, sewing, and life.

I wanted to let you guys know (I also mentioned in my speech) I’ve only known her for 4 years which isn’t enough time to spend more time with her but over those 4 years I had a lot of memories with her.

The very last time I saw her was when she was fixing my prom dress for me. Which was two months ago…

She literally was so strong and survived cancer TWICE in the last two years and it took her this far to find out she isn’t in pain anymore. Too this day Im still in disbelief. She deserves this and deserved everyone to know who she is.

I’m so proud of her for living and loving her life to the fullest and I’m so happy my uncle met someone who he loves more than anything in the world.

thank you @ericanchambers for these wonderful photos

Carmen Ross (pt 1)

I met Carmen last year on set for a shoot with Tony Higdon at the incredible home of Lucy Jones. Lucy, being Lucy, had a roster of friends always game for a gathering, Tony brought some, I brought some and we had an evening of all the friends and muses to show off Tony's hats.

But Carmen, in all her elegance, wore a turban. Such a rebel, I thought 💅 So well in fact, I didn't fathom to even ask her to switch it out for a hat. Her headpiece was as intentional as the scorpion necklace that clanged to her as if it knew they belonged together to make the boldest statement. I was taken back by her presence and struggled to not get too distracted by her considering I had an assignment to shoot Tony's latest hat collection. But we had this great little moment together.
I decided I would follow her on social media and maybe follow up later with a shoot. I was shocked to find out that she had been fighting cancer. It never occurred to me at the photoshoot she was sick. I never looked at her turban and asked myself if she was going through treatments. (Continued on next post)

There are truly no words that can explain the last 17 days, but let me try…
Carmen was in MN at the Mayo Clinic, and we both had such high hopes that they would be able to treat her GVHD that developed from her bone marrow transplant. I was sure of it; she would be okay. How could she not be okay? She beat Ewings Sarcoma and was in remission from Leukemia, she would be okay…
As I rolled out of bed on 7/11, I looked down at the phone in my hand and Danny, her husband, was calling me. No. The thought that something awful happened rushed to my head but I quickly pushed it away. He must want me to check on the cats or pick up Monty. No. She had left this world. Her body was too weak for her extraordinary soul to exist inside of it any longer.
I am crushed. I am bitter. I am not at peace with her death, but every day I am trying to become better. She was unreal, otherworldly, so she must have had to go somewhere other than here. Back out into the cosmic universe to create a new star.
The fellowship I have experienced in the weeks after her death is also out of this world. This reel is just a snippet of the hard work everyone pitched in to create the most outstanding celebration of life for Carmen. Celery and Danny are creators of art, just like Carmen was, and they told us what to do and we made it happen. Carmen may be gone, but we brought her back to life at the Loudoun House last night. You could touch her things, read her books, play her games, look at her amazing pieces of clothing she created, add to her scrapbooks, dance to her favorite music, lay in her camper… I could go on and on. It was one of the most magnificent yet sad things I’ve ever experienced. I am blessed to have known her.
Danny was the best partner anyone could ever ask for. He took care of her and made her the happiest she had ever been. He was her Earth Angel and now she is his Spirit Angel. She will live on within all of us until our souls meet again. Thank you to everyone who helped and came to party. I love you all.

“Danny Haddad - 20th Century Boy”
@dhfabs my #muse .
Co-Owner of @rockhousebrewing
On his way with his gorgeous wife @carmenross88 to #blackrockcity #nevada for @burningman #burningman2023 🔥👤🔥

How the #cosmos became aligned.

Nov 2019 - After @mococolex & my #bluegrasstransplantsexhibition for Dir. @lolliloobedoo of @lexingtonartleague finished up my hubby @lexingtonsupplycompany & I packed our kiddos up & headed out for a long over due #roadtrip back to our hometown in #southerncalifornia to see my Mom & family ❤️⚡️❤️ I worked on my #fiberart #hemp concept #avantgarde #salvadordali inspired hooded #kimono for @soreydabeneditbegley & @sarahjanecastellon @future_of_fashion_ky scheduled for March 14, 2020. Inspired by my sister Steph’s gorgeous home in #belmontshores in #longbeachcalifornia by our chill #socal #beachvibes & #multicultural #hapa lifestyle as #filipino #scottish & my bil Marlon is #japanese & their kids are gorgeous Hapa kids❤️⚡️❤️
I thought: “How do I bring my chill So Cal vibes to #lexingtonky & represent my #asain heritage & the #lovepeaceandharmony we all strive for? ❤️⚡️❤️

Then I thought about: “Who’d wear my work of art & where’d they wear it to? Who of my friends inspire me w/their peaceful countenance & rich good life they live in harmony & humbleness & is a joy to deal w/each & every time we meet? Of course the same face, same person, same vibes came back to me over & over again: my good friend Danny Haddad & his inspiring #burningmancrew & Danny truly is a gorgeous #20thcenturyboy just as my fav #marcbolan sang.

I never said a word to Danny, but I designed w/all the beautiful energy he inspired me from afar. First showing was at @lexingtonlyric for #internationalwomansday on March 4, 2020 to an amazing reception of stun & awe from admirers. ❤️⚡️❤️ Then Covid shutdown the official @future_of_fashion_ky . But I had the video of my showcase, & unbeknownst to me Danny saw it on fb then contacted me that May, saying “I saw it in March & thought about it every day since!” He bought the kimono wore it for his Wedding Reception Fall 2020.

Fall 2022 @ky_ambassador wore whole ensemble 🙌🔥🙌 Yesterday Danny just bought #jodhpurs & tank!
