I write lives (books, tv) + edit books (art memoir biography spirituality Latinx). My secret agenda is to flood the earth with compassion + beauty.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Dear Friends,

This Monday we gather to support community-member @dianaricowriter with the final steps above ground of the Earth Treasure Vase for Northern New Mexico. Diana will share with us how the purpose of this ETV slowly became clear and transitioned from a focus on the Pueblo of Taos towards a focus on the whole Northern region of New Mexico. This Full Moon will be our one and only opportunity to make our offerings and prayers before the vase will be closed and sealed with a part of the community that comes together in Santa Fe, New Mexico later that week.

And as always, we will invoke and connect to all the Earth Treasure Vase locations with the Full Moon Global Healing Meditation and dedicate our prayers and energy for peace, harmony, and balance to the places and people that are in need.

Please join us on Monday June 29th at 10am PDT / 11am MDT / 1pm EDT / 7pm CEST in meditation and prayer!

Register at our link in bio called “Full Moon Earth Treasure Vase Global Healing Meditation”

The call information will be sent upon registration. A recording of the live call will be sent out to all who register. Note: You do not need to register again if you have already registered previously.

The Personal is Collective: The Northern New Mexico ETV
by @dianaricowriter

“I never intended to steward an Earth Treasure Vase. But sometimes the Mother has other plans for us.

I learned about the ETV practice from Cynthia Jurs when she hired me in 2019 to do the first developmental edit on her book Summoned by the Earth. When, in 2021, she offered a retreat to craft the third generation of ETVs here in my adopted homeland of Northern New Mexico, I felt drawn to participate—but mainly because I wanted to work with clay again, particularly under the guidance of the renowned Santa Clara potter and activist Marian Naranjo. I thought I would make a vase, in a holy way, for someone else to steward, for some as yet unknown purpose and place.

But in the time leading up to our retreat, I woke up one day with an urgent inner message, what I call “an order from Above”: I was supposed to create and steward a vase for Taos, the precious and troubled small town in the Land of Enchantment (as New Mexico is aptly known) where I had relocated from LA in 2007. Taos is touted in the tourist media as a place where the three cultures—the original Taos Pueblo Indians, the Spanish who colonized the land in the name of the Catholic Church and the Crown, and the latecomer white Anglo settlers from the East—live in glorious harmony. The truth is far from this myth. In my experience, there are deep wells of ancient suffering right beneath the surface, animosities that colonization (in all its forms) always brings. Interaction and understanding among the three groups, at least from what I’ve seen, is rare (and precious when it does happen).

What I did not realize when I committed to stewarding the Taos Earth Treasure Vase—which eventually morphed into a healing vessel for all of this sacred region, what is now called Northern New Mexico—was that I held within myself the divisions that needed to be healed…”

As the veil thins this Samhain, the ancient Celts believed the line between worlds grew porous. The living could speak with the dead, and what was hidden could finally be seen.

For women in perimenopause and menopause, this is our Samhain.
A time when the veils within us thin.
When we meet our shadows, our grief, our truth.
When old identities die - mother, pleaser, caretaker
Something wild and wise begins to rise.

This passage is not a decline.
It’s an initiation.
Your body is the altar. Your symptoms are the spells.
Hot flashes are fire medicine.
Mood swings are storm medicine.
Sleep changes are soul summons.
Every unraveling is preparing you to embody more truth, more freedom, more power.

This Samhain, light a candle for who you once were.
Whisper gratitude to all her versions.
Then open your palms to the woman being born through the ashes.

She’s ancient.
She’s untamed.
She’s you - reborn through the sacred fire.

🕯️
May we honor the death of what no longer fits,
and walk boldly into our next becoming.

Sisters, we’ll be gathering virtually Nov 13th 6pm.

this isn’t about politics, it’s about people.

as a first generation child of immigrant parents, it just feels wrong to stay silent knowing the privilege I have bc of the sacrifices they have made.

Living in fear is not ok and unfortunately that is the reality for many of us..its been an emotionally draining day seeing everything going on in my hometown but it has also been amazing seeing those speaking up for the ones who can’t. We are in this together 🫶🏼 sending lots of love and strength

What a way to start the day!

I was up at 4:30am to join the IPPY Awards call where we celebrated this year's medalists. I met the organizers and spoke with several other medalists.

At the end of the call, I checked emails and found not one but two messages from the National Indie Excellence Awards team.

Salted Plums is Winner in the Multicultural Non-Fiction category and a Finalist in the Asian American & Pacific Islander Non-Fiction category.

I also won a Sponsor's Award and very much looking forward to working with @dartfrogbooks. (Thanks, @seattlespeesy, for letting me know.) 🎉

I'm totally blown away by this news. Thank you NIEA for these incredible honors. And thanks, everyone, for being a part of my writing journey.
