Our next featured band member is Diane Doig @diane_doig who is a member of our trumpet section. Please read below to learn more about her!

💃 Diane was born in Montreal Quebec. She first learned to play brass instruments at the age of 10 and chose to focus on the French Horn. She completed her musical training at McGill University in Montreal, and the St Louis Conservatory in Missouri. She now works as a professional French Horn player and Freelance Musician. Her career accomplishments include:

💃Winning 1st place two years in a row for the CIBC provincial musical competition (placing 2nd at nationals!)

💃Performing as a featured soloist with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Philharmonia Orchestra, Brantford Symphony Orchestra, McGill University Orchestra, and St Louis Conservatory Orchestra

💃Principal Horn player with Brantford Symphony Orchestra and past Principal Horn player with Toronto Philharmonia

💃Performing with Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, London Symphonia, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic, Opera York, and Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra

💃Performed in numerous Mirvish Productions including the Principal part for Phantom of the Opera for 8 years!

💃Member of the Stratford Concert Band since 2023, where she plays trumpet (and will be playing bass drum for a song this concert!)

When asked to celebrate a woman/women in her musical journey, Diane responded by recognizing Michele Gagnon, her former horn teacher from Montreal, and the late Joan Watson, who mentored her during her time in Toronto. Both these women and Diane can be seen in the second photo.

We celebrate you Diane. Thank you for all of your amazing musical contributions!

To see Diane and the rest of the band you can buy tickets at https://www.stratfordconcertband.com/event-details/celebrating-women-in-music or purchase them at the door. Show is on February 22nd from 3-5pm at Avondale United Church in Stratford.

Help us get instruments please by donating the little you have to keep us moving to the next level.
We are still renting which is too costly coz we do not have money, we try to get some money from the functions but they are not reliable because time comes when there are no functions.

First single out TODAY!!!

Presenting “Como Llora una Estrella”, the first single from Eliana Cuevas and the Angel Falls Orchestra’s upcoming album “Seré Libre”. Check out the full video on YouTube (link in bio)

The full album is available now for pre-order, and will be released May 12.

It was an honour and a privilege to serve as orchestrator and conductor on this album, beautifully recorded by Patric McGroarty and Justin Gray and stunningly filmed by Thom Varey.

This project was a dream come true on so many levels. The biggest project we have ever taken on, and I have no words to express how happy we are with the results, thanks to the incredible team of musicians and crew who brought this music to life.

Thank you to each one of the Angel Falls Orchestra’s members, and especially to Rebekah Wolkstein and Drew Jurecka for assembling this stellar group.

We will celebrate the album release with a special screening of the full concert film on May 11 at Cineplex Yorkdale Toronto…save the date! Details to follow…
