Ein Film mit absolutem Seltenheitswert. Cincinnati Kid von 1965 mit Steve McQueen und Eward G. Robinson. Selten hat mIch ein Film so in den Bann gezogen. Wegen der tolle Story und den tollen Schauspielern. Aber vor allem die Strahlkraft von Steve McQueen hat es mir angetan. Er zieht den Zuschauer foฬˆrmlich in sich und damit in die Geschichte hinein. Eric Holder ist in den 30er Jahren in New Orleans ein begnadeter Pokerspieler und allen nur unter dem Namen Cincinnati Kid bekannt. ๐Ÿฆโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅIn light of recent events in Los Angeles, it seemed only fitting to donate this work to a couple who lost their home in the fire. I set this intention and was led to them by Divine synchronicity. I didnโ€™t even tell anybody that I wanted to donate it! We were simply connected by a mutual friend Nathalie and they felt like the right people to care for this Phoenix. @shaynahiller @diegowallraff came over to our house last night to pick up the painting. We immediately felt a sense of connection & familiarly even though it was our first time meeting. At this point, the Phoenix painting is one of their only possessions & in a sense they will be building their new home around it. It was a powerful healing experience to hear their perspectives and wisdom in moving forward. The human spirit is endlessly powerful. Fire transforms & still the Phoenix rises from the ashes. ๐Ÿฆโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’—โœจ

This journey of losing my home to the LA fires has been quite illuminating. ๐™‹๐™ช๐™ฃ ๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฎ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™™๐™š๐™™...๐Ÿ’ฅ Iโ€™m realizing that the teachings are no longer conceptual. Theyโ€™re no longer words in a book or a set of techniques or mantras. They are now a living breathing orchestra of thoughts, feelings & brand new sensations I am facing as I come face-to-face with the truth that everything is, indeed, ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†. Paradoxically, this experience has & still is bringing me to my knees in gratitude for what I DO have. Itโ€™s strange because I simultaneously feel like I lost everything & yet nothing at all. Itโ€™s all about balance, right?๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ญ Iโ€™m learning what โ€˜letting goโ€™ & โ€˜non-attachmentโ€™ really mean for me. And Iโ€™d like to clarify the nuanceโ€ฆ In yoga philosophy, non-attachment (vairagya) is often misunderstood as apathy or indifference. For years, I was disconnected from my emotions & pretty detached from the material world altogether, thinking I was evolving spiritually, but I was simply avoidant in my relationship with life. The thing is, attachment is natural & necessary. If the roots of the tree were not attached to the Earth, we would be in trouble. I meanโ€ฆ hello umbilical cord?! The more accurate definition of โ€˜non-attachmentโ€™, from my perspective, is to be fully engaged with life while recognizing it is impermanent. In fact, that is the very REASON to be ALL INโ€ฆ ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’„๐’‚๐’–๐’”๐’† it is fleeting, & therefore every moment is a miracle.๐Ÿ’ซ So in that sense, while my heart is breaking, itโ€™s also breaking open & reminding me what โ€˜abundanceโ€™ truly means.๐Ÿ˜Œ Oh, and gentle reminder: The heart is the start of all art & feeling our emotions is a necessary part of the alchemy. It felt very important for me to look at these photos & videos to help me process & come to terms with the fact that itโ€™s really gone, especially since I have yet to see the rubble in personโ€ฆ Okay, thatโ€™s all for now. What a wild ride. I have been contemplating the question: โ€˜Who am I without my โ€˜stuffโ€™? Who am I with what appears to be โ€˜nothingโ€™? And from that somewhat strangely relieving spacious voidโ€ฆ ๐‘พ๐’‰๐’ ๐’…๐’ ๐‘ฐ ๐’˜๐’‚๐’๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’„๐’๐’Ž๐’†? So here we are, taking it one day at a time, feeling guided by the Divine. No other option than to be fully present with each moment. And the truth is, the more present and in service I am the more fulfilled & grateful I feelโ€ฆ๐Ÿฅฐ Iโ€™ve always intellectually understood the concept of โ€˜now is all we haveโ€™, but this is a whole new level of knowing. That said, we are taking it slower than a snail and not rushing into needing to know what lies next, while considering the fact that home can be with us wherever we goโ€ฆ๐ŸŒ And since two things can be true at the same time, over the past few days, I have been waking up in the middle of the night in a place of simultaneous awe and agony. Noticing the part of me that want things to go back to the way they wereโ€ฆ literally crying like a baby to my mom about the things I lostโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜ญ โ€” while another aspect of my consciousness knows itโ€™s (been) time for a new timeline and is curiously & consciously choosing to bask in the fertile void.๐Ÿ’ซ Thatโ€™s all I can come up with for now.
