What a beautiful Sunday 🥺♥️🌸✨

Lovely girls, the BBC Gardeners’ World Fair, beautiful Audley End, yummy food and, of course, a few little garden treasures 🤭🌸✨

The weather gave us a proper British welcome — warm one minute and raining the next 🤣🌧️ But honestly, nothing could spoil it.

One of those days that fills your heart, makes you grateful for the little things and leaves you wishing you could live it all over again. 🥺♥️

It is Thursday and I am still carrying a little piece of Sunday with me. 🌸✨♥️

Thanks Monty for being there on Gardeners World for over 20 years🙏

Fabulous gardening inspiration every Friday evening right in our living rooms, we will miss you!

Everyone’s wondering who could fill those impressive shoes?

What do you think ?

Slightly worrying, I hadn’t realised I was a Gardeners World stalker until I looked at all the photos 📸😂😂

Stop your pots drying out in summer 🌿

If your pots dry out every time the weather gets warm or you’re going away for a few days, this simple trick makes a huge difference.

Stand your pots in large trays with no drainage holes and water into the tray rather than just from the top. This lets the compost soak up water from the bottom, so the roots get a proper deep drink instead of the surface being wet for a few minutes.

Bottom watering helps the compost stay moist for much longer, encourages stronger root growth, and reduces how often you need to water. It’s especially useful before a holiday because the tray acts as a small water reservoir.

A few extra tips:

* Use the biggest tray you can fit.
* Give the pots a good soak before you leave.
* Group pots together in a slightly shaded spot if possible.
* Add a layer of mulch or gravel on top of the compost to reduce evaporation.
* Check the trays every few days and refill when they’ve emptied.

The best part is that you can actually see when your plants need more water because the tray will gradually empty, which makes watering much easier to manage.

Have I officially lost the plot, or is Garden Yoga about to be the next big trend? 🧘‍♀️🌿🤪🤪

I present to you: my absolute favorite pose watch to the end to see the actual reality of trying to be zen when there’s balancing plants, bees, and uneven ground involved 😅).

Honestly, I think our plant community needs to get in on this. Who’s brave enough to give it a go? 👇
@happypotting – Sally & Lloyd, I feel like another “Enough is Never Enough” haul requires some serious pre-potting stretches! 🪴

@dig_sow_grow – Tash, I’m calling it now: Downward Dog with Danny is the co-star moment that insta needs. 🐶

@thefrontgardeners – Greg, you need to hold a perfect zen pose while showcasing a perfect plant or two from your amazing nursery. No pressure. 🌸

@really.badgardener – Chris... honestly, just do your thing. We know it’ll be iconic. 🎬

Would you try Garden Yoga, or should I stick to just holding a trowel? Let me know below! 👇👇

🌿 I Found the Perfect Lemongrass Plant at Gardeners’ World! Here’s Why You Should Grow One… 🍋

I couldn’t resist picking up this lovely lemongrass plant from @urbanherbsuk at Gardeners’ World. It’s one of those herbs that’s incredibly easy to grow and gives you so much back.

Lemongrass loves a warm, sunny spot and grows really well in a pot, making it perfect for UK gardens. Keeping it in a container means you can move it into a greenhouse, conservatory or indoors over winter, helping it survive the colder months.

Not only does it smell amazing, but it’s brilliant in the kitchen too. Use the fresh stems in Thai curries, stir-fries, soups, marinades and even homemade herbal teas for that fresh citrus flavour. Just snip what you need and it’ll keep producing new growth throughout the season.

If you’ve never grown lemongrass before, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. It’s easy to look after, looks great on the patio and you’ll always have fresh herbs ready whenever you need them.

Have you ever grown lemongrass, or is this one going on your wish list? 🌱👇

Glimmers are everywhere ✨

I swear, every time you watch this you’ll notice something different. We’ve just got to remind ourselves to be on the look out for them. 👀

From planting a bulb, true leaves on seedlings, to the tiniest details and colours of a Muscari, (of course Bees would make many appearances too). 🐝

We take joy in the littlest things that fill our hearts 💖 increasing our wellbeing by being grateful to ourselves for taking the time to notice them. It’s pure self care 🫶🏻

I’m so greatful to the following for taking time out of their busy schedules to gift themselves these powerful pocket sized surprises;

Botanical Pronunciation challenge
With Tash from @dig_sow_grow

Not content with our Menobrains playing foggy tricks on us, we thought we up the ante for our neurons by trying to teach ourselves new tricks (err I know what your thinking but less of the old dog thanks 🤣).
Well, it was quite fun and gave the funny bones some much needed exercise 🤣

Tash was in charge of picking the names and I think we sound somewhere between Hermione and an Italian Chef cooking Pasta.

How did we do? Who’s the best Latin speaker? 🤣🫣

#happywednesday 💚

#workwednesady - I was at my favourite garden yesterday and realised how money saving and environmentally savvy we are 😎♻️🤑 👈👈👈👈👈👈

Here are some of the ways we’ve saved cash and helped the environment

1/ Seed saving - there are a few plants we do this with - these are Echinopps and others are Hollyhocks, Poppies and Foxgloves- this has saved a fortune as we don’t buy in new plants

2/ Use what you have rather than buying in - here I’ve mulched the border here with Acer leaves rather than buying in mulch - see also 7/ home made compost which I use as a mulch on the borders

3/ Reuse - this original stumpery incorporated some wood chip and old stumps from a felled tree. The bottom was lined with old cardboard and covered first with home made compost
Some of the plants were added from existing plants in the garden - sedums , Hellebores, grasses and Ferns

4/ Redistribution of self seeded plants - I created this Foxglove border purely from self seeded plants I sourced in other borders

5/ Division (not diving 🤦‍♀️) of perennials - in this case Sedums were split and placed in regular intervals throughout the border

6/ We repurposed this an old bath to grow Squash in - this saved it going to landfill and not having to buy in pots to grow them in

7/ Creating their own compost - saves transportation costs and not having to buy in plastic bags of shop bought compost

What do you do in your own gardens to save money /help the environment?

Have wonderful Wednesdays all 🙏💚
