I love everything about Nkrumah’s Ghana from the pictures, but we must never forget that this is still Nkrumah’s Ghana. Our Ghana is still just as beautiful with so much yet to offer. If beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, then I urge you friends, to see Ghana with the same eyes Nkrumah saw Ghana with.

The Black Star will never stop shining.

Join us to celebrate the launch of GALAMSEY, a photographic journey by Mariusz Smiejek captured during the 7-year intensive research, Unearthing Her Crown, helmed by Melani Lea Mennella. The initiative documented lives and landscapes entrenched by gold, exploitation, and survival throughout the Ashanti, Ahafo and Upper East Regions.

The photographs reflect the accumulation of trust, presence, and lived experience across communities shaped by extraction. Together, they stand as witness and an unflinching visual archive of resilience and humanity embedded within Ghana’s gold economy.

At the intersection of lived experience, critical investigation, and policy lies the genesis of social change. Power is in momentous solidarity!
