We are all performers on this planetary stage… Old friends and new signing, playing, dancing, wondering around or ignoring the Cosmic Dancer nr. I, II, III. The sun also showed up!

Cosmic Dancer nr. II is wearing @henrykrokatsis chaos/order socks from his project “prost” (meaning common, everyday, mundane within which lies the divine).

Thanks to @eyeon.universe and @bcosmow for the beautiful shots, @jecopalm for managing the meltdown, @gabijagrusaite @eyeon.universe @nyoungjun.moon for sharing the space & Joseph Campbell for the quote that inspired the title.

“Tragedy is the shattering of the forms and of our attachment to the forms; comedy, the wild and careless, inexhaustible joy of life invincible.”

The Tragico(s)mic Dance is the culmination of my research and experiments @rcasculpture. The installation includes three main sculptures and a performance activation involving the public and the sun. It troubles anthropocentric hierarchies and binaries, and rehearses ways to not only embrace what we can’t control but also find joy in it. It is a coming together of people, sweat, tears, laughter, materials, mistakes, time and space, reminding that art like our lives emerge somewhere between intention and indeterminacy… but above all, interdependence. Life is co-creation!

RCA Sculpture had a strong showing of graduate work this year. The range of materials used was vast from resin and porcelain to blown glass and bronze. Plus steel, car tires, plaster, silicon and textiles. A proper celebration of materiality.

Here are some of my favourite sculptural installations:
